On motion the Convention adjourned till 10 A. M. to-morrow.

The Senate, on repairing to the Senate chamber, was called to order by Mr. Speaker Ewing, and on motion, the motion to adjourn till 10 A. M., Monday being reconsidered, the Senate adjourned till 9:30 A. M. to-morrow.

SATURDAY MORNING, JANUARY 8TH, 1887.

SIXTH DAY.

The Senate met at 9:30 A. M., pursuant to adjournment, Mr. Speaker Ewing in the chair.

Proceedings were opened with prayer by the Rev. Dr. J. D. Barbee.

On a call of the roll all the Senators responded except Messrs. Montedonico, Quarles, and Thompson, who were granted leave of absence on account of sickness.

The Journal of the preceding day's proceedings was read and approved.

NEW BILLS AND RESOLUTIONS.

By Mr. Padgett, Senate Joint Resolution No. 7, In respect to the memory of General John A. Logan.

By Mr. Tolley, Senate Joint Resolution No. 8, Instructing members of Congress to adhere to the National Democratic Platform in reference to tariff.

REPORT.

The following report was received from the Committee on Enrolled Bills:

MR. SPEAKER-Your Committee on Enrolled Bills have compared Senate Resolutions Nos. 6, 7, and 8, and find them correctly enrolled, and ready for the signature of the Speaker. LYNN, Chairman.

RESOLUTIONS SIGNED.

The Speaker announced his official signature to Senate Resolutions Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8.

By unanimous consent Senate Joint Resolution No. 2, was withdrawn.

By Mr. Norment, Senate Bill No. 12, To provide for the appointment, instead of election, of State Librarian.

Passed first reading.

On motion, the Senate proceeded in a body, to the hall of the House of Representatives, to resume balloting for State Librarian, the hour of 10 A. M. having arrived.

IN CONVENTION.

The Convention was called to order by Mr. Speaker Ewing, as President of the Convention.

On a call of the roll of the Senate, twenty-nine Senators responded. Representatives present, ninety-seven.

The name of Miss Bridges was withdrawn.

Mrs. Zollicoffer Wilson was placed in nomination.

The seventh ballot was then taken, and resulted as follows:
