day; left any of you be HARDNED through the DECEITFULNESS of SIN.

14 For we are made PARTAKERS of CHRIST, if we HOLD the Beginning of our CONFIDENCE STEDFAST unto the END;

15 While it is faid, To-day if ye will hear his Voice, harden not your Hearts, as in the Provocation.

16 For fome when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit, not all that came out of Egypt by Mofes.

17 But with whom was he grieved forty Years? was it not with them that had finned, whofe Carcafes fell in the Wilderness.

18 And to whom fware he that they fhould not enter into his Rest, but to them that BELIEVED NOT.

19 So we fee that they could not enter in, because of UNBELIEF.

Ver. 1

T

HESE be the Words which Mofes fpake unto all Ifrael on this fide Jordan in the Wilderness, in the Plain over against the Red Sea.

3 And it came to pass in the FORTIETH Year, in the eleventh Month,

on the first Day of the Month, that Mofes fpake unto the

Children

Children of Ifrael, according unto all that the LORD had given him in Commandment UNTO them.

4 After he had flain Sihon the King of the Amorites, and Og the King of Bafhan.

5 On this fide Jordan, in the Land of Moab, began Mofes to declare this Law, faying,

6 The LORD our GOD fpake unto us in HOREB, faying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this Mount:

7 Turn you, and take your Journey, and go to the Mount of the Amorites, and by the Sea-fide, to the Land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great River the River Euphrates.

8 Behold, I have fet the Land before you go in and POSSESS the Land which the LORD fware unto your Fathers, Abraham, Ifaac, and Jacob, to give unto them, and to their Seed after them.

9 And I fpake unto you at that Time, faying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:

10 The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and behold you are this Day as the STARS of HEAVEN for MUL

TITUDE.

II (The LORD GOD of your Fathers make you a thoufand times fo many more as ye are, and BLESS you as he hath PROMISED you)

12 How can I myself alone bear your Cumbrance, and your Burden, and your Strife?

13 Take ye wISE Men and understanding, and known among your Tribes, and I will make them Rulers over you. 14 And ye answered me, and faid, The Thing which thou haft fpoken is good for us to do.

15 So I took the chief of your Tribes, wife Men and known, and made them Heads over you, Captains over thoufands, and Captains over hundreds, and Captains over fifties, and Captains over tens, and Officers among your Tribes.

16 And I charged your Judges at that Time, faying, Hear the Caufes between your Brethren, and JUDGE RIGHTEOUSLY between every Man and his Brother, and the Stranger that is with him.

17 Ye fhall not RESPECT PERSONS in JUDGMENT, but you fhall HEAR the SMALL as well as the GREAT;

• Prov. xxiv. 23 It is not good to have RESPECT of PERSONS in JUDG

MENT.

James ii. Have not the FAITH Of Our LORD JESUS CHRIST, the LORD of you

you
*fhall not be AFRAID of
the FACE of MAN, for the
JUDGMENT IS GOD's and
the Cause that is too hard
for you, bring it unto me,
and I will hear it.

18 And I commanded you at that Time all the Things which ye fhould do.

19 And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and TERRIBLE WILDERNESS.

20 And I faid unto you, Ye are come unto the Mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give

unto us.

21 Behold, the LORD thy GOD hath fet the Land before thee go up and poffefs it, as the LORD GOD of thy Fathers hath faid unto thee; FEAR NOT, neither be difcouraged.

22 And ye came near unto me every one of you, and faid, We will fend Men before us, and they fhall fearch

GLORY, with RESPECT OF PERSONS. 8 If ye fulfil the ROYAL LAW, ¿ccording to the Scripture, Thou shalt

love thy Neighbour as thy felf, ye do well.

9 But if ye have RESPECT to Pɛr

soNS, ye COMMIT SIN, and are convinced of the LAW as Tranfgreßiors.

Heavens, and look upon the Earth *Ifa. li. 6 Lift up your Eyes to the beneath for the HEAVENS thall VANISH away like Smoak, and the EARTH fhall wax old like a Garment, and

they that dwell therein thall DIS in like manner: but my SALY ATION fhall be for EVER, and my RIGHTEOUSNESS fhall not be ABOLISHED.

12 I, even I am he that COMFORTETH you who art thou, that thon fhouldeft BE AFRAID of a Man that fhall die, and of the Son of Man

which shall be made as Grafs.

Jer. xxii. 3 Thus faith the LORD, EXECUTE ye JUDGMENT and RightsOUSNESS, and deliver the SPOILED Out

of the Hand of the OPPRESSOR : and do no WRONG, do no VIOLENCE to the STRANGER, the FATHERLESS, nor the WIDOW, neither fhed innocent Blood.

4 For if ye do this Thing indeed, then fhall there enter in by the Gates of this Houfe, Kings fitting upon the Throne of David.

s But if ye will not hear thefe

Words, I fwear by inyfelf, faith the LORD, that this Houfe fhall become a DESOLATION.

us out the Land, and bring us word again by what Way we must go up, and into what Cities we fhall come.

23 And the Saying pleased me well and I took twelve Men of you, one of a Tribe.

24 And they turned and went up into the Mountain, and came unto the Valley of Efhcol, and fearched it out.

25 And they took of the Fruit of the Land in their Hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and faid, It is a GOOD Land, which the LORD our GOD doth GIVE US.

26 Notwithstanding, ye would not go up, but REBELLED against the Commandment of the LORD your God.

27 And ye MURMURED in your Tents, and faid, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the

Land

Land of Egypt, to deliver us into the Hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

28 Whither fhall we go up? our Brethren have difcouraged our Heart, faying, The People is GREATER and TALLER than we, the CITIES are great and wALLED Up to HEAVEN, and moreover we have feen the Sons of the ANAKIMS there.

29 Then I faid unto you, DREAD NOT, neither be AFRAID of them.

30 The LORD your God which goeth before you, he fhall FIGHT for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your Eyes.

31 And in the Wilderness, where thou haft feen how that the LORD thy GOD BARE thee as a Man doth BEAR his SON, in all the Way that ye went, until ye came into this Place.

32 Yet in this Thing ye did not BELIEVE the LORD your God,

33 Who went in the Way before you to fearch you out a Place to pitch your Tents in, in FIRE by NIGHT to fhew you by what way you fhould go, and in a CLOUD by DAY.

34 And the LORD heard the Voice of your Words, and was wroth, faying,

35 Surely there fhall not ONE of these Men, of this evil Generation fee that good Land which I fware to give unto your Fathers;

36 Save Caleb, he fhall fee it, and to him will I give the Land that he hath troden upon, and to his Children, because he hath WHOLLY FOLLOWED the LORD.

37 Alfo the LORD was angry with me for your SAKES, faying, Thou alfo fhalt NOT GO in thither.

38 But JOSHUA, which standeth before thee, he fhall go in thither. ENCOURAGE him: for he fhall caufe ISRAEL to INHERIT it.

39 Moreover, your Little ones, which ye faid fhould be a Prey, and your CHILDREN which in that Day had no Knowledge between Good and Evil, they fhall go in thi ther, and unto them will I give it, and they fhall POSSESS

it.

40 But as for you, TURN ye, and take your Journey into the WILDERNESS, by the Way of the Red Sea.

41 Then ye answered and faid unto me, We have finned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to
