To William W. Wymam, five dollars, for publishing in the Mad. ison Express, An act of the Legislative Assembly, to ascertain the indebtedness of the Territory, approved January 31st, 1844.

The Secretary of the Territory is hereby authorized to apply in payment of any balance of the appropriation made in this act, which shall remain unpaid after the expenditures of the appropriations for the expenses of the legislative assembly, made at the last session of Congress,so much of the appropriation which has been or shall be made at the present session of congress to defray the expenses of the Legislative Assembly, as will be requisite to pay such balance.

To Henry O. Sholes, for publishing in the Green Bay Republican, an act of the Legislative Assembly, entitled "An act to ascertain the indebtedness and taxable property of the Territory," approved January 31, 1844, five dollars.

JOINT RESOLUTION relative to the printed copof the decisions of the Supreme Court.

Resolved by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

That two copies of the reports of the decisions of the Supreme court for the years 1842 and 1843, that have been published and deposited in the Library, be forwaded to each clerk of the district courts for the use of such courts respectively.

JOINT RESOLUTION relative to Mail Routes.

Resolved by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

That our Delegate in Congress be requested to procure the establishment of a mail route from Janesville to Racine on the United States road between those places; also one from Racine to Prairie Village in Milwaukee county; and also one from Wheatland to Racine both in the county of Racine; also one from Mineral Point in Iowa county by way of Shullsburg and New Diggings to White Oak Springs in Iowa county, also one from Madison in Dane county via Sun Prairie, Columbus, and Beaver

dam to Waupun in Fond du Lac county; also one from the falls of St. Croix [to] La Point on Lake Superior; also one from Prairieville in Milwaukee county by the way of Lisbon to Limestone in Washington county; also one from Potosi by way of Hurricane and Cassville to Patch Grove in Grant county; also one from Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac county, by the way of Ceresco and Green Lake to Fort Winnebago in Portage county; also one from Madison to Prairie du Chien in Crawford county by the most direct route; also, one from Plattville in Grant county by Jamestown to Fairplay, and from Fairplay by Hazle Green to White Oak Springs in Iowa county; also, one from Millwaukee by Lisbon, Warren, Oconomewoc, Watertown and Sun Prairie to Madison; and also, one from Milwaukee by Hustis Rapids to Fort Winne. bago; also, one from Milwaukee via Whitewater and McFaddens on Sugar River to Mineral Point.

JOINT RESOLUTION asking Congress for an appropriation to defray the expenses of taking the census of the inhabitants of Wisconsin Territory, and for the holding of a convention to form a State constitution.

Resolved by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin.

That our delegate in Congress be requested to urge upon that body, the passage of a law making an appropriaton to defray the expenses of taking a census of the inhabitants of the Territory, preparatory to the formation of a State government, and also to make an appropriation to provide for the expenses of holding a convention to form a constitution and state government.

JOINT RESOLUTION relative to the Distribution of the balance of the Distributive Share of Wisconsin in the nett proceeds of the Public Lands. Resolved by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

That Joshua Hathaway, special agent of the Territory of Wisconsin, to receive and disburse the distributive share of Wisconsin in the nett proceeds of the public lands, be, and he hereby is directed to apply the balance of said fund to the payment of the interest which shall be due and unpaid on any bonds which may be presented to him, now unredeemed that were issued to Daniel Baxter for the completion of the capitol.

Resolved. That said special agent, so soon as he shall have disbursed said fund, shall make a final report to the legislative assembly of his proceedings as such agent, and transmit all vouchers, or other papers connected with his said agency, to the legis lative assembly.

RESOLUTION of the Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Wisconsin, asking Congress for an appropriation for the construction of a harbor at the mouth of Sheboygan river.

Resolred by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

That the interests of a large and interesting portion of the Territory, extending westerly from Sheboygan on Lake Michigan to Lake Winnebago and the Fox river,and thence Westwardly to the Wisconsin river as well as the safety of navigation upon Lake Michigan, imperiously demand the early construction of a harbor at the mouth of the Sheboygan river.

Resolved, That the Hon. Henry Dodge, the delegate from this Territory, be respectfully requested to urge upon Congress, the passage of a law at its present session, making an appropriation for that object.

Resolved, That His Excellency the Governor, be requested to transmit a certified copy of the foregoing resolution to the presiding officers of both houses of Congress and to the honorable Delegate.

RESOLUTION recommending the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, to allow William B. Slaughter a certain credit.

Resolved by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

That in the opinion of this Legislative Assembly, William B. Slaughter late Secretary of this Territory, did in the month of September 1840, negociate or deposit with Samuel B. Knapp, cashier of the bank of Mineral Point, a draft of ten thousand dol lars, issued to him by the Treasury Department of the United States on the 10th of August 1840; that he made said negociation or deposite acting as Secretary aforesaid and in good faith, believing it to be for the best interests of the United States and of this Territory, and in the opinion of said Assembly, said William B. Slaughter should be credited at the Treasury Department of the United States for said ten thousand dollars, deducting therefrom the amount of any vouchers turned over to the said Slaughter by the said Knapp, for which the said Slaughter has received or should receive a credit at said Treasury Department. APPROVED February 22nd, 1845.
