Mr. Elmore moved the following amendment, which was agreed to.

To John P. Sheldon and George Hyer, for printing for Legislative Assembly for the session commencing the 27th March to the 17th April, 1843, inclusive, three hundred and five dollars.

To William W. Wyman, for printing for Legislative Assem. bly for the session commencing the 27th March to the 17th April, 1843, inclusive, four hundred and seventeen dollars and twelve cents.

Mr. Platt offered the following amendment, to wit:

To B. Shackelford for preparing for distribution the laws passed at the session of 1841 and '2 among the several counties of the Territory, twenty-five dollars.

And the question being taken thereon, it passed in the nega. tive.

Mr. Trowbridge moved the adoption of the following amend ment:

To Charles Doty for services as clerk in the Executive office during the last and present session, forty-three days, at three dollars per day $126.

And the question being put thereon, it passed in the affirmative;

"To L. C. McKinney and J. L. Marsh for publishing the laws of 1841 and 2, in the Wisconsin Whig, fifty dollars." And the question being put thereon,

Mr. Hamilton moved the following amendment :

To J. G. Knapp for causing to be published weekly, the jour nal and proceedings of the Legislative Assembly in the Madison Express, the sum of one hundred dollars.

And the question being taken thereon.

It passed in the negative.

And the ayes and noes being taken, we re as follows: Ayes, Messrs. Crossman. Hamilton, Hopkins, Long, Manahan, Masters, Platt, Price, Walker, and Ellis, (Speaker,-10. Noes, Messrs. Agry, Darling, Elmore, Hicks, Hunkins, Judson, Meeker, Olin, Parsons, Thompson, Tripp, Trowbridge and Van Vleet, -13.

Mr. Elmore moved to strike out of the bill, the two items of eight hundred dollars each to Alexander P. Field for extra services.

And the question being taken thereon,

It passed in the negative.

The said bill, No. 65, was then ordered to the third reading. Mr. Platt made a motion to reconsider the vote by which the said bill was ordered to a third reading, which being put, was agreed to.

Mr. Platt then made a motion to reconsider the vote by which the House rrefused to concur in the amendment reported by the committee of the whole, making an appropriation to J. & L. Ward..

The question was put and it passed in the negative,

Mr. Hamilton moved to amend the bill by adding thereto the following;

To Sheldon and Hyer for four hundred and twenty-three newspapers during the session ending April 17, 1843, twenty five dollars and thirty eight cents.

The question being put thereon, it passed in the affirmative. Mr. Hamilton then made a motion to further amend the bill
