It helped me find the benefits and accept the losses involved in other
dichotomous decisions. Externally, I have been constantly confronted with
assumptions by others that I am gay or straight, depending upon the community
and the situation.
Having been through my fear of death, I was now able to accept my mortality. To
know that we are to die one day may be a simple matter, but to believe it in our
hearts and incorporate this knowing into our living is quite another matter.
