Mersey Railway and Severn Tunnel Ventilation.

For the Mersey Tunnel Railways we have constructed the largest installation of Ventilating Machinery erected anywhere, either at home or abroad, and the Engineers of the Railway, Sir DOUGLAS Fox, Mr. F. Fox and Sir JAMES BRUNLEES, have warmly expressed their approval of the machinery and the ventilation effected thereby.

For the ventilation of the Severn Tunnel, under instructions from the late
Sir JOHN HAWKSHAW, we erected one of our Ventilating Fans, which has an
easy capacity of 500,000 cubie feet of air per minute.
Tunnel has unanimously been pronounced PERFECT.

This Gearing is now extensively in use for Haulage purposes. The objects attained are Sim-
