First,By theHead I understand the Godhead of Christ is meant, according to those Words in 1 Cor. li. v. 3. But I would have you know, that the Head of every Man is Christ •, and the Head of the Woman is the Man -, and the Head of Christ is God. Thus we fee that the Divine Nature is said to be the Head, or the Godhead of Christ: For as the Head is the Seat ot "Wisdom, Knowledge, and Prudence 5 so it shews, that all the Treasures of Wisdom, and Knowledge, are hid, in Christ, from this Fulness of the Godhead; For in him dweBeth all the Fulness of the God' bead bodily; Col. ii. Secondly, as the Head is

the Seat ofWisdom,so it is ofGovernment; thatRule, Power, and Authority of governing, which by the Father is given unto Christ, may be signified by this Head, the Lord Jesus; who knows how (from that Sufficiency of Wisdom, Strength, and Power that is in him) to rule and govern in Earth and Heaven, for the Manifestation of his Glory, the eternal Good and Welfare of his People. Again, as God is the Head of Christ, so Christ is the Head of the Church. Eph. i. 22. and hath put all Things ■under his Feet, and gave him to be the Head ever all Things to the Church. Oh what Grace, Mercy, and Dignity, is conferr'd upon that Soul that is in Union, and so near a Relation unto this glorious Person, that hath the Lord Jesus Christ to be his Head! This Head is by the Spouse set out to be all of Gold; Sol. v. ver. T O. His Head is as fine Gold. That is, Christ's Head is compar'd not only unto Gold, but fine Gold, the choicest and purest Gold.
