TO THE TRADE: In view of the rapidly increasing danger of magnetization of watches, arising from the general introduction of electric appliances, such as street car motors, dyna mos as motive power for all purposes, electric brakes on railways, lo omotive electric headlights, and the lighting of railway cars by electricity, etc., we wish to impress upon those selling our watches the advantage of casing them in anti-magnetic cases in order to insure their safety from magnetization from above causes, and to secure the accurate performance our movements are capable of; and it has been demonstrased that anti-magnetic cases (having been tested in actual service for three or four years), will accomplish what is claimed for them. Very many of our watches are now in railway service, and the demand is increasing: we are interested in securing for them safety and reliability, and as some of the sources of danger mentioned above are comparatively new, and coming into operation every day, dealers should be thoroughly posted as to the above-mentioned dangers and the most efficient means of prevention. THE VILLAGE BLACKSMITH.

Under a spreading chestnut tree
The village blacksmith stands,
And in a brimming basin he
Would wash his brawny hands;
But something else than water clean
His sooty palm demands.

Week in, week out, from morn till
night,

He might have rubbed, I trow,
Had I not given him a cake
Of IVORY SOAP, when, lo!

Full soon those honest hands of his
Were spotless as the snow.

And when the soap escaped his grasp,
With wonder he did note

That on the water's surface dark

The cleansing bar did float,

As swims upon a turbid lake
A pearl white fairy boat.

"Thanks, thanks," said he, "my worthy
friend,

For this which thou hast brought;
No village blacksmith should forget
The facts this Ivory Soap has taught;
For hands like mine it is the best
That can be found or bought."

LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEERS,

FIREMEN, CONDUCTORS, AND EMPLOYES OF RAILROADS,

Beware! Magnetism will ruin your Watches.
