ing; and wilt thou, O Lord, enable us wisely to use these precious favors, as faithful stewards of thy house.

We look to thee for thy blessing upon this meeting, and for all the good purposes for which it is assembled. We devoutly pray, that we may be guided by thy heavenly wisdom to the adoption of such measures, and such only, as shall tend to the advancement of the cause of truth and righteousness, in our own hearts, and among our fellow-men.

Heavenly Father; we implore thy blessing upon this branch of thy Zion. May it be watered with the dews of Divine grace, and bring forth fruit abundantly, to thy honor and glory. Preserve, we pray thee, among its members, the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace; and may no root of bitterness spring up, to disturb its harmony, or injure its prosperity.

Be mercifully pleased to grant our feeble petition, so far as consistent with thy holy will; pardon our many transgressions; bless us by thy guidance and

protection, during the time that remains to us here; give us strength, in all faithfulness to discharge our every duty, and receive us at last to thyself; and to thy holy name be the glory forever. Amen. HYMN.

SCRIPTURE LESSON III. PASTOR.The heavens declare the glo

ry of God;

RESPONSE.

And the firmament show

eth his handiwork.

P.-Day unto day uttereth speech; R. And night unto night showeth knowledge.

P. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.

R.-The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

P.-The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart.

R.-The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

P.-The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever.

R.-The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

P.- More to be desired are they than gold, yea than much fine gold;

R.-Sweeter also than honey and the honey-comb.

P. Moreover, by them is thy servant warned;

R.--And in keeping of them there is great reward.

P.-O, how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day. Thou, through thy commandments, hast made me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. They also, do no iniquity, they walk in his ways. Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! Then shall I not be

ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely, this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any man be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass; for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the word; this man shall be blessed in his deed. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is

this; to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

PRAYER.

Almighty and Most Merciful God: we rejoice that thou hast given us thy law, as a light to shine upon our pathway, and a perfect guide in all the duties of life. We pray, O Lord, that thou wilt enable us to walk in all thy ordinances blameless; and especially, in those great commands which require us to love thee with the whole heart, and our neighbor as ourselves. Graciously be pleased to accept our thanks, that thou hast spared us amid the dangers of the world, until the present time, and permitted us again to meet and mingle with our brethren of like precious faith. Be thou in the midst of us, O Lord, with the good and gracious influences of thy Holy Spirit, to guide us in all our deliberations, and sanctify us wholly unto thy service. May our communion with thee, and our
