ANTHEM CLIII.

IN thee, O Lord, have I put my trust, bow down thine ear unto me, make haste to deliver me, be thou also my guide, O Lord, draw me out of the net that they have privily laid for me, for thou art my God. Into thine hands I commend my Spirit, O Lord thou God of truth, for thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, thou God of truth. xxxi.)

ANTHEM CLIV.

From the "Laudi Spirituali," A.D. 1545.

Lord of mercy and of might,
Of mankind the life and light,
Maker, teacher, infinite,
Holy Jesus! hear and save.
Mighty Monarch, Saviour mild,
Humbled to a mortal child,
Captive, beaten, bound, reviled,
Holy Jesus! hear and save.

Throned above celestial things,
Borne aloft on Angels' wings,
Lord of lords, and King of kings,
Holy Jesus! hear and save!
Who shall yet return from high,
Robed in might and majesty ;
Hear us! help us, when we cry!
Holy Jesus! hear and save.

ANTHEM CLV.

GLORY be to God on high, and on earth peace, good will towards men. We praise thee, we worship thee, we bless thee, we glorify thee, we give thanks to thee, for thy great glory. We praise thee, &c. Thou art most high, in the glory of the Father. Amen. (Communion Service.)

ANTHEM CLVII.

O God, thou art my God, early will I seek thee, my flesh also longeth after thee. O God, my soul thirsteth for thee, in a barren and dry land, where no water is, for thy loving-kindness is better than life itself, my lips shall praise thee. Amen. (Ps. lxiii.)

MOZART.

ANTHEM CLVIII.

We will rejoice in thy salvation, and triumph in the name of the Lord our God. Hallelujah.

Amen.

ANTHEM CLIX.

My soul is weary of life; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul, I will say unto God, O do not condemn me, show me why thou contendest with me. Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble he cometh up and is cut down like a flower: he fleeth as it were a shadow, and continueth not in one stay. Why pardonest thou not my transgressions? Why take not mine iniquity from me? O that thou wouldst hide me in the grave, till thy wrath be past. There the wicked cease from troubling, there the weary are at rest. Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth, for he maketh sore, and bindeth up; he woundeth, and maketh whole. Therefore I will trust and not be afraid, for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song, and he will also become my salvation. (Job x. 1, 2. Funeral Service. Isaiah xii. 2.)

ANTHEM CLXI.

AND God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit, after his kind, whose seed is in itself upon the Earth; and it was

So.

Thou visitest the Earth and blessest it, thou makest it very plenteous. Thou preparest the corn, for so thou providest for the Earth. Thou makest it soft with the drops of rain, and blessest the increase of it. Thou crownest the year with thy goodness, and thy clouds drop fatness. Praise the Lord upon the harp, Sing praises unto the Lord, Sing unto the Lord a new song. Praise him all ye Heavens, and ye waters that are above the Heavens.

Praise him upon the harp. (Gen. i; Ps. lxv, xcviii, cxlviii.)
