THE Christmas Supplement for 1875 will be issued not later than December 1. It will con tain a Reference Price-List of the NEW HOLIDAY BOOKS, including the ILLUSTRATED WORKS, BOOKS FOR THE YOUNG, and other CHOICE ЕOOKS published during 1875, with a readable descriptive summary, and other entertaining reading matter, (including an editorial urging the value of Books and BOOKSELLERS' GOODS as HOLIDAY PRESENTS,) and advertising pages giving THE FINEST ILLUSTRATIONS from the new books.

The local bookseller can add half as much again to his holiday trade by properly calling the attention of the public to his goods. For this purpose the best means is the circulation of a handsome and interesting pamphlet like the CHRISTMAS SUPPLEMENT, which was last year pronounced by the German "Book Trade Magazine," the most attractive publication of its kind issued in the book-producing countries. This is received with pleasure by those to whom it is given or sent, as itself a picture-book of no little value, and its descriptions of and illustrations from books at once arouses the desire to purchase the books themselves.

For the accommodation of the retail trade, editions will be supplied at cost of paper, print, and handling, printed on a cheaper but good quality of tinted paper, with dealers' imprints as in the "Literary News," as follows:

[merged small][ocr errors][merged small][ocr errors][merged small][merged small][ocr errors][ocr errors][merged small][merged small]

The regular (fine paper) edition of the Christmas Supplement, with cover in two colors, will be supplied for distribution as follows:

SINGLE COPIES (post-paid), 20 CTS.

PER 100 COPIES,

$15.00

Dealers who desire to use the entire first page of cover in the regular edition for their own advertisement, may have this privilege by remitting $5 additional, to cover actual cost of composition and changing.

The above estimates are based on the size and cost of the number of last year. Should this year's cost fall below these figures, a rebate will be made by supplying an additional number of copies to the full amount of the remittance.

In order to avoid delay, it is absolutely necessary that the imprint, or copy for advertising on the first page, together with full directions for forwarding, should accompany the remittance.
