[graphic]

Preface by SOPHIE MAY, and nearly 100 illustrations, including forty-six full-page designs, by eminent artists. All the poems in the book are fresh, many having been written expressly for the volume, which is printed on fine tinted paper, the page and illustrations being of the same size as "Pussy Tiptoes," and "Frisk and his Flock," a form never before adopted for a volume of juvenile poetry.

This volume will rank with the finest specimens of work of its class that have been produced in this country, and will fill the place, this season, held in the past two seasons by Whittier's "Child Life," and Miss Larcom's Childhooa Songs."-Boston Evening Transcript.

Quarto, cloth, full gilt, $2.25.

TAINE'S TOUR THROUGH THE PYRENEES. Translated by J. SAFFORD FISKE. Illustrated by GUSTAVE DORÉ. Square 8vo, gilt, $10. Full Levant morocco, $20.

A superb presentation volume with nearly 250 illustrations in Doré's early, careful manner. The illustrations are not confined to the scenery, but also refer to many of the adventures, tragic and grotesque, that beset the traveler, and, what is of more interest and importance, many of the legends of that historic and romantic country, from Froissart and the other old Chroniclers.

"It is rarely that a book is printed in so perfect a combination of the book-making trinity, author, artist, and publisher, as s this superb work."-N. Y. Evening Mail. "A marvel of beauty."-Boston Transcript.

VERS DE SOCIÉTÉ. By Praed, Landor, Thackeray, Moore, Holmes, Calverley, Saxe, Locker, Dobson, and the other recent authors in this department. Selected by CHARLES H. JONES, with Illustrated Title and Vignettes, Drawn by JOHN A. MITCHELL, and Engraved by HENRY MARSH. 8vo. Cloth, gilt, $7.50. Full Levant morocco, $15.

"It we have ever seen a daintier piece of book-making, we have forgotten it. The paper is of the usual cream tint of fine books, but where the page is printed a darker color has been laid in, and this, in turn, surrounded by a border of lavender-a color suggestive of the elegancies."-Evening Post.

"A more beautiful and every way delightful gift-book for Christmas or any other season would be difficult to conceive. Wit, sentiment, poetry, and art are therein combined in the most felicitous proportions. It is such a collection of this class of poems, a class that has only lately been distinctly recognized and cultivated, as was never before made, and it may be said to include nearly every thing that ought to have place in such an anthology."-Boston Advertiser.
