AGREEABLY to the provisions of the constitution and laws of the State uf Vermont, the House of Representatives convened in the State House in Montpelier, on the second Thursday, being the ninth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-five. At ten o'clock in the forenoon, JAMES MCM. SHAFTER, Esq., Secretary of State, having called to order, proceeded to call the names of the members who had presented their credentials; and the following named members were present, were duly sworn, and took their seats, namely : BENNINGTON COUNTY. Arlington, Anson Buck, Halifax, William Plumb, Townshend, Henry L. Aiken, Marlboro', Newfane, Putney, James Keyes, Londonderry, Reuben Harrington, Vernon, Eli Lee, Wm. W. Winchester, Westminster, RUTLAND COUNTY. Ira Goodhue, Windham, Hosea F. Ballou, The Secretary of State laid before the House the credentials of Charles Russell as the member elect from the town of Burlington, of Joseph Riford as the member elect from the town of Braintree, and of Nathan Fay as the member elect from the town of Richmond,-which credentials had been adjudged insufficient by him. On motion, The said members elect were admitted to seats in the House; and they were sworn and took their seats. The House proceeded to the election of a Speaker for the year ensuing. And the ballots having been taken and examined by the tellers, the HON. EBENEZER N. BRIGGS, the representative from the town of Brandon, was duly elected and sworn. The Speaker thereupon took the chair and addressed the House The House proceeded to the election of a Clerk pro tempore. was duly elected and sworn. On motion of Mr. Adams of Grand Isle, it was Resolved, That the rules of the House for the last session be adopted as the rules for the present session, until others are adopted.
