(H. 86.) Mr. Hammond introduced a bill entitled "An act in addition to Chapter 48 of the Revised Statutes, in relation to the settlement of Estates.'

(H. 87.) Mr. Danforth introduced a bill entitled "An act in relation to the sessions of the Supreme Court."

(H. 88.) Mr. Fairbanks introduced a bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Northern Extension Rail Road."

Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee on Roads.

Mr. Hall presented the petition of Robert Wesselhoeft and others, praying for the incorporation of the Brattleboro' Hydropathic Infirmary; which was referred to the Judiciary Committee.

(H. 94.) Mr. Jones of Chelsea introduced a bill entitled "An act to continue in force the act incorporating the Orange County Bank." Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee on Banks.

The petition of Peter W. Dean and others, praying for the re-charter of the Bank of Bellows Falls, was presented and referred to the Committee on Banks.

The petition of A. G. Dana and 34 other citizens of Brandon, praying for the improvement of Common Schools, was presented and referred to the Committee on Education.

Bills from the Senate were considered and ordered as follows:

The bill (S. 23) in addition to Chapter 74 of the Revised Statutes, entitled "Of Pedlers," was read the first time and referred to the Judiciary Committee.

The bill (S. 28) in amendment of Chapter 108 of the Revised Satutes, entitled "Of Salaries and Fees,' was read the first time, and referred to the Committee of Ways and Means.

The Bill (S. 17) to restore John W. Staples to his legal privileges, was read the first time and referred to the Judiciary Committee.

The bill (S. 31) altering the name of Seymour L. Stafford, was read the first time and referred to the General Committee.

The bill (S. 20) to establish a Hospital at Castleton, was read the first time and referred to the Committee on Education.

A message from the Senate, by Mr. Clarke, their Secretary: MR. SPEAKER :-The Senate have considered the bill from the House of Representatives (H. 37) entitled "An act for the relief of Patrick O'Flanagan," and have resolved not to concur in the passage of the

same.

On motion of Mr. Chase of Calais,

The House proceeded to consider the resolution, introduced by Mr. Marston on the 20th instant, declaring that Mr. John Walter, Jr., the

returned member from East Haven, is not entitled to a seat in the House; when

The hour having arrived for a meeting of the Joint Assembly, pursuant to a concurrent resolution of the two Houses, the Senate appeared in the Hall of the House.

The Joint Assembly having concluded its session,

Mr. Barlow moved an adjournment; which motion was lost.

The House' resumed the consideration of the said resolution as to the right of Mr. John Walter, Jr., to a seat in the House.

Mr. Stevens moved to lay said resolution on the table.

And the question was stated from the chair, Shall the resolution be ordered to lie on the table?

On which question the yeas and nays, having been demanded, were taken, and were as follows:

(H. 95.) Mr. Aiken introduced a bill entitled "An act to pay Charles Story the sum therein mentioned."

Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee of Claims.

Mr. Hall, from the Committee on Roads, to which were referred the petition of Daniel C. Gilson and 89 others, and the petition of William Wright and 125 others, each praying for the discontinuance of that portion of the Bachop Road (so called) which leads through the towns of Barnet, Peacham and Ryegate,-reported that said road was established by the County Court in 1839, and that a petition is now pending before said Court for its discontinuance, and that the prayer of said petitions ought not to be granted; which report was concurred in, and it was

Ordered, That the petitioners have leave to withdraw their petitions. Mr. Swift, from the Judiciary Committee, to which was referred the petition of John Hines, praying for a new trial in a suit in his favor against Andrew N. Jenks, reported that the prayer thereof ought not to be granted; which report was concurred in, and it was

Ördered, That the petitioner have leave to withdraw his petition.

(H. 70.) Mr. Barlow, from the General Committee, to which was

referred the bill entitled "An act for exempting Pews from attachment," reported that said bill ought not to pass.

And on the question, Shall the bill be read the second time? it was decided in the negative.

And said bill was rejected.

(H. 79.) Mr. Stevens, from the Judiciary Committee, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act relating to suits for Fraudulent Conveyances," reported that the same ought to pass; and said bill was read the second time.

Ordered, That it be engrossed and read the third time to-morrow morning.

(H. 96.) Mr. Kimball introduced a bill entitled "An act in explanation of Section 49 of Chapter 20 of of the Revised Statutes, relating to the discontinuance of Roads."

(H. 66.) Mr. Carpenter, from the Committee of Ways and Means, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act authorizing Selectmen to abate Taxes," reported that said bill ought not to pass.

And on the question, Shall the bill be read the second time? it was decided in the negative.

And said bill was rejected.

(H. 8.) Mr. Bogue, from the Committee of Claims, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to pay Charles H. Turner the sum therein mentioned," reported that the same ought not to pass.

And the question was stated, Shall the bill be read the second time? and being taken, was decided in the negative.

And the House refused to pass said bill.

(H. 32.) Mr. Russell from the Judiciary Committee, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act explanatory of Section 31 of Chapter 48 of the Revised Statutes, in relation to Licenses for the sale of Estates," reported that said bill ought not to pass.

And the question being put, the House refused to order said bill to the second reading.

Mr. Adams of Grand Isle, from the Committee of Ways and Means, to which was referred the petition of citizens in District No. 1 in Goshen Gore, praying that the interest of the Surplus Revenue may be distributed equally among the districts in said Gore, reported that said Committee had heretofore reported a bill on said subject matter; which report was concurred in.

(H. 97.) Mr. Adams of Grand Isle, from the same Committee, to which was referred, by the resolution introduced by Mr. Plumb on the 22d instant, so much of the Governor's message of the 15th instant as relates to the expense of printing the Report of the Geological Survey, reported a bill entitled "An act to pay William Slade the sum therein mentioned," which was read the first and second time.

Ordered, That said bill be engrossed and read the third time.
