Which was read the first and second time.

Mr. Harmon moved to lay said bill on the table; which motion was lost.

Mr. Fairbanks moved the reference of said bill to the Judiciary Committee; which reference was disagreed to.

Mr. Hall moved to amend said bill by adding thereto the following section:

Sec. 2. It shall be lawful for the said meeting to adjourn to some day, not exceeding ten days after the first Tuesday of September, and may proceed as provided for the said first Tuesday of September.' And the question being taken, the House rejected said amendment. And the question was stated from the chair, Shall the bill be engrossed and read the third time?

On which question the yeas and nays, having been demanded by Mr. Nelson of Ryegate, were taken, and were as follows:

On motion of Mr. Fairbanks, the House proceeded to consider the bill entitled "An act in addition to an act to incorporate the Connecticut and Passumpsic Rivers Rail Road Company,' passed November 10, 1835," which was yesterday laid on the table; and it was Ordered, That said bill be engrossed and read the third time.

(H. 77.) The House considered the amendment of the Senate to the bill, which had passed the House, entitled "An act providing for the payment of the debts against the State Prison ;" and it was

Resolved, To concur in said amendment.

(H. 52.) On motion of Mr. Adams of Grand Isle, the House proceeded to consider the engrossed bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Trustees of the Vermont Annual Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church," which, on the 24th instant, was ordered to lie on the table.

On motion of Mr. Stevens, the bill to incorporate the Baptist Convention of Vermont, which was pending before the General Assembly in 1826, and the written reasons of the Governor and Council for non-concurrence in the passage thereof, were read by the Clerk.

Mr. Welch moved to dismiss said bill.

And on the question, Shall the bill be dismissed? the yeas and nays, having been demanded by Mr. Barlow, were taken, and were as follows:
