REPORT

OF THE DIRECTORS OF THE CENTRAL RAIL ROAD COMPANY.

To the General Assembly of the State of Vermont :

In compliance with the 19th Section of the Charter of the Ver 'mont Central Rail Road Company, the Directors of said Company hereby submit their first Annual Report" of their proceedings, receipts and expenditures," up to the 1st day of October, 1845:

Sufficient subscriptions having been first obtained, this corporation was fully organized on the 23d day of July last, by the choice of seven Directors, who at once proceeded to the appointment of the necessary officers. Surveys preparatory to the location of the line of the road were commenced at the earliest moment practicable, and have embraced territory within the Counties of Franklin and Chittenden on Lake Champlain, and the valleys of Onion, White, and Connecticut Rivers. The surveys are so far completed as to warrant the location of the line, a part of it at least, within the present month; and notice has been given that proposals for grading will be received up to the 5th of November next.

The receipts of the Company, being payments on the capital stock, amounted on the 1st inst. to

And the expenditures for surveyor's instruments, surveys, and other services, amounted to

$91,790,00

1,491,56

This statement is made from the Treasurer's books, and does not embrace payments which had been made on the stock, but of which an account had not been rendered by the banks in which the funds were deposited; nor expenses, which had then been incurred, but had not been presented for payment.

All which is respectfully submitted in behalf of the Directors.

CHARLES PAINE,
DANIEL BALDWIN,
