MANAGING DIRECTOR, W. R. SELWAY.

GOOD TEMPLAR AND TEMPERANCE ORPHANAGE,

MARION PARK, SUNBURY-ON-THAMES.

Chairman-MR. THOMAS CHAMBERLAIN, J.P., Windsor. Treasurer-MR. FROOME TALFOURD, St. Ann's Hill, Wandsworth, S.W. Hon. Secretary—MR. EDWARD WOOD, 6, Shelgate Rd., New Wandsworth, S. W.

The GOOD TEMPLAR AND TEMPERANCE ORPHANAGE has been established for the reception of the Orphan Children of Temperance parents. The desire is to make it a home in the truest sense of the word, where Orphans of both sexes may find, not merely food and clothing, but also the happy influences which combine to make life a blessing to the possessor.

The Institution is located at Marion Park, Sunbury, where a large House and twelve acres of Freehold Land have been purchased at a cost, including repairs and furniture, of nearly £5,000. There is accommodation for about seventy children. At present forty-two Boys and Girls are sheltered in the Home, and the number will be increased as funds permit. The children range from three to fourteen years of age. They receive a sound education to fit them for useful stations in life.

The establishment is so conducted as to foster a love of cleanliness, and encourage regular habits. It is supported entirely by voluntary contributions. The Committee and Officers give their services gratuitously, and are also subscribers. No part of the income is diverted to other purposes than the maintenance of the Orphans and the Institution. Any person may become a subscriber. Temperance Societies may also qualify by a regular collection in behalf of the funds, and enjoy all the privileges of Subscribers.

A payment of ten shillings annually entitles any person to nominate a Candidate; or a donation of five pounds gives a like privilege for life.

The property of the Institution is vested in Trustees; the management in a Committee, which meets monthly to transact ordinary business. A weekly Committee is also appointed to take personal oversight of the arrangements of the Institution, and report to the general body. The officers are also frequent visitors at irregular intervals.

The Orphanage is open for inspection daily, Sunday excepted.

In the United Kingdom Band of Hope Union National Competitive Examination for 1881, one of the Orphanage boys (in his thirteenth year) headed the list of 2,517 competitors in the Junior branch, i.e., for boys and girls under fourteen years of age. Another boy (in his twelfth year) stood No. 26, while all the other children who competed from this Institution obtained First-Class Certificates.

There has not been a death in the Orphanage since it was founded seven years ago; only one case of serious illness has occurred; and in no case has it been necessary to send a child away for misconduct or other cause before reaching the age provided for by the rules.

The Committee earnestly appeal to the friends of Temperance everywhere for continued and increasing support. They do this on the ground that the benefits of the Orphanage are not restricted to any particular locality, the children now in the Institution belonging to ten different counties. A further and special claim may be based on the fact that this is the only Institution for the orphan children of Temperance parents, managed exclusively by pledged teetotalers.

Subscriptions may be addressed to the Treasurer, or to the Hon. Secretary, who will be happy to supply Collecting Cards, or any further information.

REMARKABLE RESULTS from the Rev. E. J. SILVERTON'S REMEDIES for DEAFNESS and ILL-HEALTH.

THE

THE REV. E. J. SILVERTON'S celebrated Ear Trumpet literally gives hearing at once to the deaf. During the past twelve years no less than 12,000 of these instruments have been sold, and in every case have given the greatest satisfaction. But Mr. Silverton has also a medicine which removes deafness, noises, and offensive discharge in the ears. His Aural Remedy goes at once to the root of the disease and removes the cause.

When, however, the tympanum of the ear is broken, an artificial "drum" has to be introduced, and this marvellous surgical operation Mr. Silverton accomplishes repeatedly. The ears are also examined, without pain or inconvenience, by the Silver Illuminated Speculum.

Mr. Silverton has also been very successful in his manner of treating cases of brokendown health. The idea of supplying a Nutritious Food with his Energeen or Energiser, is exceedingly happy; the two things going together act splendidly on the delicate constitution. Thousands of sufferers not ill enough to be confined to their room and not well enough to be out, find in this double remedy the means of health. This has been proved over and over again in cases of the most hopeless character. After a short course the patient begins to improve, and goes on improving until well. It is not too much to say, that in several cases where death seemed inevitable, the patient has been raised, as it were, from the grave. Mr. Silverton holds letters of the most convincing nature from persons who have taken the remedies with unmistakable success. There are few ailments which do not succumb to the power of these remedies. Local complaints frequently disappear as the general health and tone of the system improves. Indigestion, constipation, sick headache, decline, consumption, asthma, coughs, colds, and a thousand other ills, are removed by a course of the Food of Foods and Medical Energiser. Indeed no person out of health should fail giving these marvellous restoratives a fair trial. It is true to say they do not cure all who take them, but it is scarcely possible for any one to do so without benefit.

THE REV. E. J. SILVERTON,

assisted by a Physician, sits for the examination of patients daily at his Consulting Rooms, from 11 to 2, Saturdays excepted. No charge is made for consultation at these hours. For consultation at other hours arrangements should be made by letter. Country patients should embrace Monday and Tuesday mornings, if possible, and they should endeavour to be at the consulting rooms by 11 o'clock. Sufferers should not fail to pay a visit, as so much more can be done in most cases by a personal interview; but if this cannot be, Mr. Silverton will send his "Book of Health, and Treatise on Diseases of the Ears and Eyes," price ls., free to readers of the "National Temperance Annual," which contains a list of questions for the guidance of the patients.

Mr. Jesse J. Silverton is in attendance each day from 9 till 7, Saturdays 9 till 1, when any of the Remedies may be obtained, and arrangements made for consultation if required. NOTE THE ADDRESS.-All communications should be addressed to the Rev. E. J. SILVERTON, at his Consulting Rooms, 17, St. Bride St., Ludgate Circus, London, E.C.
