The consideration of the special order of business, being Senate Bill No. 10, being a bill for "An act to apportion the State of Illinois into Senatorial districts, and to repeal an act therein named," was resumed, and

Senate Bill No. 10 was taken up and read at large a second time, when

Mr. Martin of Woodford moved to strike out all after the enacting clause of said bill, and substitute therefor House Bill No. 13, as follows:

A bill for "An act to apportion the State of Illinois into Senatorial Districts, and to repeal an act therein named."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That, until the taking and return of the next federal census, and the apportionment thereunder, as

provided in the constitution, this State shall be divided into Senatorial districts, each of which shall be entitled to one Senator and three Representatives, as follows, to-wit:

First-The Ninth and Tenth wards, and all that part of the Eleventh ward north of the center line of Van Buren street, and all that part of the Seventeenth ward south of the center line of Ohio street and west of the center line of Franklin street, and all that part of the First ward north of the center line of Van Buren street and west of the center line of Franklin street, in the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook, shall constitute the First district.

Second-That part of the Fourth ward south of the center line of Twenty-ninth street, in the city of Chicago, and the towns of Hyde Park and Lake, all in the county of Cook, shall constitute the Second district.

Third-All of the First ward except that part north of the center line of Van Buren street and west of the center line of Franklin street, all of the Second ward, all of the Third ward and that part of the Fifth ward east of the Chicago river, east of the center line of Stewart avenue and north of the center line of Twenty-sixth street, and that part of the Fourth ward north of the center line of Twenty-ninth street, all in the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook, shall constitute the Third district.

Fourth-That part of the Eighth ward north of the center line of Taylor street, that part of the Eleventh ward south of the center line of Van Buren street, that part of the Twelfth ward east of the center line of Western avenue, and that part of the Thirteenth ward east of the center line of Western avenue and south of the center line of West Ohio street, all in the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook, shall constitute the Fourth district.

Fifth-That part of the Sixth ward west of the center line of Throop street and east of the center line of Western avenue, that part of the Seventh ward east of the center line of Western avenue, and that part of the Eighth ward south of the center line of west Taylor street, all in the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook, shall constitute the Fifth district.

Sixth-The Eighteenth ward, that part of the Sixteenth ward east of the center line of Larrabee street, and the Fifteenth ward, all in the city of Chicagc, in the county of Cook, shall constitute the Sixth district.

Seventh-That part of the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook, west of the center line of Western avenue, and the towns of Bloom, Bremen, Thornton, Calumet, Worth, Rich, Palos, Orland, Lemont, Lyons, Riverside, Cicero, Proviso, Leyden, Maine, Elk Grove, Schaumberg and Hanover, in the county of Cook, shall constitute the Seventh district.

Ninth All that part of the Fourteenth ward north of the center line of West Division street and east of the center line of Western avenue, in the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook, and the towns of Lake View, Evanston, Jefferson, Norwood Park, Wheeling, Palatine, Barrington, Northfield, Niles and New Trier, in the county Cook, shall constitute the Ninth district.

Fifteenth-All of the Fifth ward except that part east of the Chicago river, east of the center line of Stewart avenue, and north of the center line of Twenty-sixth street, and that part of the Sixth ward east of the center line of Throop street, all in the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook, shall constitute the Fifteenth district.

Thirty-third That part of the Seventeenth ward north of the center line of Ohio street, that part of the Sixteenth ward west of the center line of Larrabee street, that part of the Thirteenth ward east of the center line of Western avenue and north of the center line of Ohio street, and that part of the Fourteenth ward east of the center line of Western avenue and south of the center line of Division street, in the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook, shall constitute the Thirty-third district.

Eighth-The counties of Coles, Moultrie and Shelby shall constitute the Eighth district.

Tenth-The counties of Winnebago and Ogle shall constitute the Tenth district.

Eleventh-The county of Will shall constitute the Eleventh district. Twelfth-The counties of Kane and DuPage shall constitute the Twelfth district.

Thirteenth―The counties of DeKalb, Kendall and Grundy shall constitute the Thirteenth district.

Fourteenth-The counties of Lake, McHenry and Boone shall constitute the Fourteenth district.

Sixteenth-The counties of JoDaviess and Stephenson shall constitute the Sixteenth district.

Seventeenth-The county of LaSalle shall constitute the Seventeenth

district.

Eighteenth-The counties of Livingston and Ford shall constitute the Eighteenth district

Nineteenth-The counties of Carroll, Whiteside and Lee shall constitute the Nineteenth district.

Twentieth-The counties of Bureau, Marshall and Putnam shall shall constitute the Twentieth district.

Twenty-first-The counties of Rock Island and Henry shall constitute the Twenty-first district.

Twenty-second-The counties of Knox and Stark shall constitute the Twenty-second district.

Twenty-third-The counties of Henderson, Mercer and Warren shall constitute the Twenty-third district.

§ 2. Wherever the words "ward" or "wards" in the city of Chicago are used in this act, they shall be construed as meaning the wards in said city at the time of the passage of this act.

§ 3. An act entitled "An act to apportion the State of Illinois into Senatorial districts," approved March 1, 1872, in force July 1, 1872, is hereby repealed.

Mr. Weber offered the following amendment:

Amend section one by striking out all of the first, second, third, fourth, sixth, seventh, ninth, eleventh and thirteenth clauses, and inserting, in lieu thereof, the following, in their respective places: First-The Ninth and Tenth wards, and all that part of the Eleventh ward north of the center line of Van Buren street, and all that part of the Seventeenth ward south of the center line of Ohio street and west of the center line of Franklin street, and all that part of the First ward north of the center line of Van Buren street and west of the center line of Franklin street, in the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook, shall constitute the First district.

Second-That part of the Fourth ward south of the center line of Twenty-ninth street, in the city of Chicago, and the towns of Hyde Park and Lake, all in the county of Cook, shall constitute the Second district.

Third-All of the First ward except that part north of the center line of Van Buren street, and west of the center line of Franklin street, all of the Second ward, all of the Third ward, and that part of the Fifth ward east of the Chicago river, east of the center line of Stewart avenue and north of the center line of Twenty-sixth street, and that part of the Fourth ward north of the center line of Twenty-ninth street, all in the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook, shall constitute the Third district.
