NEW YORK.

[merged small][merged small][graphic]

THE subscriber respectfully invites the attention of all to the late invention of the

STEREOSCOPE,

which comprises in itself both instruction and amusement. The London Stereoscopic Company are now producing a style of instruments unequaled in this country, which are offered at an extremely low price, putting them within the reach of all. These instruments are so arranged that objects placed within the focus of the lenses, become as distinct in their position as the subjects from which the Pictures are taken, each Building, Tree, or Mountain standing in bold relief, giving a realization to the view never before accomplished. A large and extensive assortment of illustrations have been selected, comprising Pictures of Still Life, views of celebrated Places, Statuary, Oriental Tableaux, etc., etc. Many of these are transparent, showing the effect of an Italian Sunset or a Northern Winter. The large sale of these instruments in Europe, and the universal approbation with which they have been received, is a sure guarantee of their success in this country. A list comprising a few of the many hundred striking subjects, is here added:

ILLUSTRATIONS-SEPARATELY.

No. 1. Views of Paris, London, Switzerland, the Tyrol, etc....

2. Domestic Scenes, comprising every phase of human life, colored or plain.

[blocks in formation]

3. A well-selected assortment of Statuary, comprising, among others, Golden Age, by Beattie; Dorothea, by Bell; Paul and Virginia; Burns and his Highland Mary; Christ and Woman at the Well. 4. The Wedding; Pic-nic Party; Ball Room; Tea Party; Caudle Lectures; Hay-Making; Cottage Scenes.
