Mr. Speaker:-I am directed by the House of Representatives, to transmit herewith, House Bills Nos. 98, 119, 120, 116, 166, 207, 158, 107, and 143, passed; also, Senate Joint Resolutions Nos. 31, 32 and 33, concurred in; and Senate Bill No. 18, passed; and Senate Bill No. 17, amended and passed; and House Joint Resolution No. 103, adopted; and House Bills Nos. 64, 55; and House Joint Resolutions Nos. 76, 31, 80, 85, 68, 86 and 89, for the signature of the Speaker of the Senate.

Mr. Matthews presented a Memorial from J. T. Lenoir, which was referred to the Committee on Internal Improvements, without reading.

Mr. Cate introduced Senate Bill No. 114, to-wit: "A Bill incorporating Soddy Coal Company."

Passed first reading, and referred to the Committee on Incorporations.

Mr. Cate introduced Senate Bill No. 115, to-wit: "A Bill to incorporate the Walden's Ridge Coal Company."

Passed first reading, and referred to the Committee on Incorporations.

Mr. McCall introduced Senate Bill No. 116, to-wit: "A Bill to repeal sec. 2069 of the Code of Tennessee."

Passed first reading.

Mr. Smith introduced Senate Bill No. 117, to-wit: "An Act incorporating the University in Shelby County, Tennessee." Passed first reading.

Mr. Nelson offered Senate Joint Resolution No. 37, to-wit: "Appointing J. M. Alexander, Librarian, pro tem.”

On motion of Mr. Nelson, the rules were suspended, and the Resolution taken up.

Mr. Cate offered the following amendment, to-wit: "Provided, the said Alexander shall be paid out of the appropriation provided for the payment of the State Librarian."

Adopted.

And the Resolution was adopted, and ordered to be transmitted to the House of Representatives.

Mr. Smith introduced Senate Bill No. 118, to-wit: "A Bill to relieve the State, and do justice to office holders."

Passed first reading, and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Lyle introduced Senate Bill No. 119, to-wit: "An Act to repeal section 5378 of the Code."

Passed first reading.

On motion of Mr. Smith, the rules were suspended, and House Joint Resolution No. 100, was taken up on House Message No. 28, to-wit: "Authorizing the Comptroller to issue a warrant to Captain Wm. Heydt, for ninety-five dollars and fifty cents, to defray expenses of certain committees.

Referred to the Committee on Claims.

Senate Joint Resolution No. 36, was taken up, and vote taken by ayes and noes on its adoption, with the following result:

House Bill No. 128, was taken up on its third reading, and passed over informally.

On motion of Mr. Cary, vote rejecting House Bill No. 121, was reconsidered, and the Bill taken up, and passed.

House Bill No. 65, on House Message No. 30, was taken up on its 1st reading, to-wit: "A Bill to define the powers and duties of State Directors in railroad companies in this State."

Passed.

House Bill No. 179, on House Message No. 28, was taken up on its first reading, to-wit: "An Act to incorporate the New Orleans & Ohio Air Line Railroad Company."

Mr. Wisener offered Senate Joint Resolution No. 38, to-wit: Instructing the Joint Select Committee on the Constitution, to inquire into the expediency of proposing certain amendments to the Consti

Mr. Keith introduced Senate Bill No. 120, to-wit: "An Act for the re-imbursement of certain tax-payers."

Passed first reading.

Mr. Garner introduced Senate Bill No. 121, to-wit: “A Bill proposing amendments to the Constitution of the State."

Referred to the Joint Select Committee on the Constitution, without passing.

Report No. 69, from the Judiciary Committee, to-wit:

Mr. Speaker:-The committee have had under consideration House Bill No. 76, and recommend its passage.

On motion of Mr. Elliott, the rules were suspended, and House Bill No. 178, on Report No. 68, was taken up on its third reading. Mr. Elliott offered the following amendment, to-wit: "And that the election ordered by the Sheriff for the Wards, as heretofore existing, shall be held under this Act, and shall be as legal as though ordered to be held at the court-house.

Adopted.

Mr. Patterson offered the following amendment, to-wit:

SEC.. Be it further enacted, That the Commissioner of Registration for Sumner County, appoint judges and clerks of the municipal elections, and shall hold said elections.

Adopted.

And the Bill passed, and its transmission ordered to the House of Representatives.

Senate Bill No. 69, was taken up on its third reading.

Mr. Wisener offered the following amendment, to-wit:

SEC. Be it further enacted, That said society be authorized to purchase and deal in fine blood stock; but in no case shall any stock owned by said society, come in competition for premiums offered by said society for fine blood stock, or otherwise.

Adopted.

Mr. Wyatt offered the following amendment, to-wit: Incorporating the Lincoln County Agricultural Society.

Adopted.
