Mr. Cary moved to print for the use of the Senate, two thousand in English, and five hundred in German.

Mr. Norman moved a transmission of the Report to the House of Representatives. Withdrawn.

On motion of Mr. Wisener, five hundred copies in English, and two hundred and fifty in German, were ordered to be printed for the use of the Senate, and the Report ordered to be transmitted to the House of Representatives.

On motion of Mr. Aldridge, the Principal Doorkeeper was granted leave of absence until Monday, the 21st, inst.

Mr. Speaker:-I am directed by the House of Representatives, to inform the Senate that the House has adopted House Joint Resolutions Nos. 4, 16, 14, 9, 13, 15, 12, and 25, and respectfully ask the concurrence of the Senate in the same.

The Committee on the part of the House of Representatives on House Joint Resolution No. 13, are: Messrs. Bosson, and Hamilton, of Shelby.

The Committee on the part of the House of Representatives on House Joint Resolution No. 15, are: Messrs. Ryder, Woodcock, Mynatt, and Blackman.

The Committee on the part on House Joint Resolution No. and Hammer.

Mr. Smith arose and stated that Mr. Elliott had been called away by a telegram, on account of sickness in his family.

The Speaker announced a quorum present, and the minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

Report No. 8, from the Committee on Incorporations, to-wit:

Mr. Speaker:-The Committee have had under consideration Senate Bills Nos. 5, and 21, and recommend their passage; also Senate Bill No. 10, and recommend the striking out of the second section, and the passage of the Bill.

Mr. Speaker: The Committee have had under consideration Senate Bill No. 13, and upon the adoption of the accompanying amendment, recommend its passage.

Mr. Frierson introduced Senate Bill No. 23, to-wit: entitled "An Act, to be entitled An Act to amend An Act passed November 21st, 1866."

Passed first reading, and referred to the Judiciary Committee. Mr. Cary introduced Senate Bill No. 24, to-wit: entitled "An Act to encourage Immigration to Tennessee."

Passed first reading, and referred to the Committee on Immigration.

Mr. Rodgers offered Senate Joint Resolution No. 16, to-wit: "Against the further issuance of United States Bonds."

The rules were suspended, and the Resolution taken up and referred to the Committee on Federal Relations.

Mr. Rodgers introduced Senate Bill No. 25, to-wit: entitled "A Bill for the relief of debtors."

Passed first reading, and referred to the Judiciary Committee. Mr. Wisener introduced Senate Bill No. 26, to-wit: entitled "An Act to amend Sec. 3937 of the Code."

Passed first reading.

Mr. Wisener introduced Senate Bill No. 27, to-wit: entitled "An Act to repeal Section 2115 of the Code of Tennessee." Passed first reading.

Mr. Wisener introduced Senate Bill No. 28, to-wit: entitled "An Act to attach Franklin and Marshall Counties to the third Chancery Division."

Passed first reading.

Mr. Cate introduced Senate Bill No. 29, to-wit: "A Bill to amend the 26th Section of An Act passed the 9th of March, 1867, entitled 'An Act to Incorporate the Harrison, Selma and Cincinnati Railroad Company.'

Passed first reading, and referred to the Committee on Internal Improvements.

House Joint Resolution No. 4, was taken up on House Message No. 4, to-wit: "Directing the Treasurer to pay the members and officers of the Legislature their pay when they apply for the

same."

Concurred in.

House Joint Resolution No. 9, was taken up on House Message No. 4, to-wit: "Providing for the Senate to meet the House of Representatives in Convention."

Ôn motion of Mr. Nelson, the Resolution was indefinitely postponed.

House Joint Resolution No. 12, was taken up on House Mess

age No. 4, to-wit: "Raising a Joint Committee to take into consideration that part of the Governor's Message that refers to the settlement of the accounts of the different Railroads."

Mr. Cary offered the following amendment, to-wit: "And that said Committee be directed to especially consider so much of the Governor's Message as relates to State appropriations in aid of certain railroads of this State; the said Committee to be impowered to send for persons and papers, and to take testimony in reference to the application which has been made of the said appropriations."

On motion of Mr. Fuson, the Resolution and amendment were referred to the Committee on Internal Improvements.

House Joint Resolution No. 13, was taken up on House Message No. 4, to-wit: "Raising a Joint Select Committee to investigate the Railroad Sinking Fund."

Mr. Cary moved a reference of the Resolution to the Committee on Internal Improvements.

Lost.

On motion of Mr. Cate, the Resolution was referred to the Committee on Finance, Ways and Means.

House Joint Resolution No. 16, was taken up on House Message No. 4, to-wit: "Repealing the Joint Resolution offering a reward for Isham G. Harris."

On motion of Mr. Fuson, the Resolution was laid on the table. House Joint Resolution No. 14, was taken up on House Message No. 4, to-wit: "Regulating the Governor's Staff."

On motion of Mr. Wisener, the Resolution was laid on the table.

House Joint Resolution No. 15, was taken up on House Message No. 4, to-wit: "Raising a Joint Committee to take into consideration that part of the Governor's Message as recommends the building of a branch of the Penitentiary."

Referred to the Committee on the Penitentiary.

House Joint Resolution No. 25, was taken up on House Message No. 4, to-wit: "Directory to the Treasurer.

On motion of Mr. Nelson, the Resolution was laid on the table. House Joint Resolution No. 34, was taken up on House Message No. 5, to-wit: "Directing the Comptroller to deliver to the Columbia Fire Insurance Company, Bonds deposited in his office." Referred to the Judiciary Committee.

On motion of Mr. Eckel, one member from West Tennessee, was added to the Joint Committee on Immigration.

The Speaker appointed Mr. McCall on said Committee. Senate Bill No. 18, was taken up on its second reading, and passed.

Senate Bill No. 12, was taken up on its third reading.

Mr. Rodgers offered Senate Bill No. 30, in lieu.
Adopted.

Mr. Nelson moved that the word "instructed" be stricken out, and the word "requested" be inserted in its place.

Lost.

Mr. Wisener moved to strke out the last two words of the Bill.

Lost.

The Bill then passed, and its transmission ordered to the House of Representatives.

Senate Bill No. 6, was taken up on its third reading, and referred to the Committee on Tippling, and Tippling Houses.

Senate Bill No. 4, was taken up on its third reading, and withdrawn by Mr. Smith for amendment.

Senate Bill No. 11, was taken up on its third reading, and the vote taken by ayes and noes, on its passege, with the following result:

Mr. Speaker: I am directed by the House of Representatives, to inform the Senate that the House has adopted House Joint Resolution No. 37, and ordered it to be immediately transmitted to the Senate, for its concurrence; also, a communication from the Agricultural Fair of Williamson County. The House has accepted the invitation, and designated 9 o'clock, A. M., to-morrow, as the hour for starting.
