Mr. Frierson offered Senate Joint Resolution No. 20, to-wit: Empowering and requiring the former State Agent in Washington City, to wind up said Agency as soon as practicable.

On motion of Mr. Frierson, the rules were suspended, and the Resolution was taken up.

Mr. Wisener offered the following amendment, to-wit: Provided, That nothing herein contained, shall be so construed to renew the salary given by the State of Tennessee; nor shall said Agent charge any person for whom he was to prosecute their claims without compensation, other than his salary.

Adopted.

The Resolution was adopted, and its transmission ordered, to the House of Representatives.

Mr. Smith returned Senate Bill No. 4, to the files of the Senate. Mr. Patterson introduced Senate Bill No, 37, (accompanied by a petition,) to-wit: "A Bill changing the county line between the Counties of Smith and Putnam."

Passed first reading, and referred, with the petition, to the Committee on New Counties and County Lines.

Mr. Keith introduced Senate Bill No. 38, to-wit: "A Bill to change the time of holding the Circuit Courts of this State." Passed first reading, and referred to the Judiciary Committee. House Bill No. 5, on Report No. 12, was taken up, on its second reading, on an amendment offered by the Committee.

Adopted; and the Bill passed.

House Bill No. 18, was taken up, on its second reading.

On motion of Mr. Smith, the Bill was amended by striking out "three thousand," and inserting "five thousand."

And the Bill passed.
