The owner of Edward of York, however, objected to the start on the ground that his horse was left at the post, and the Stewards, although the Starter declared that it was a start, ordered the race to be run again. All were then drawn except Edward of York, who won in a canter, Volante, and Dame Tattle, who in this heat was ridden by Watson. Edward of York entered for 50l., was bought in for 301. The Stakes were ultimately awarded to Edward of York.
