MY FRIEND, SINCE God hath permitted you to be visited with sickness, you will not, I hope, consider a few minutes ill-employed in reading this little tract. It is written with a sincere desire to render you some small service during your present affliction. I know how tedious are the hours, and how lengthened appear the days and nights to those, whom it hath pleased the Almighty to visit with such painful dispensations, and I am therefore anxious to do what in me lies towards lightening your sorrows, and rendering your condition less irksome.
