tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it?.” Rejoice, because nothing can pluck you out of the hand of Him in whom ye believe”. “ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword ? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord 8.”

How great then is the privilege of the believer in Jesus Christ! Be not cast down, O my soul : though sorrowful, yet rejoice, for thy help is in Him who is mighty. Believe and hope, for there is no wound which His balm cannot heal no clouds which the light of the Sun of Righteousness cannot disperse :-no sorrows which His Holy Spirit cannot turn into joy!

PRAYER

O Lord Almighty, the Author and Giver of every blessing temporal and spiritual, incline Thine ear to the prayer of Thine unworthy servant. Deliver me, I beseech Thee, from this affliction, and restore me to my former health. I. confess, O Lord, that for my numerous transgressions I deserve to be punished, and that my frequent forgetfulness of Thy mercies might justly cause Thee to withhold those blessings for which I seek; but deal not with me, O gracious Father, according to my sins, nor reward me according to my iniquities. Correct me with judgement, not in anger lest Thou bring me to nothing. And let Thy grace accompany the chastisement inflicted upon me, that it may cause a sincere and lasting reformation in me. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Suffer not my faith to fail, but visit me with the joy and peace that are promised to the believer. Let the love of heavenly things so occupy my heart as to prevent in me all anxious, fearful, and disquieting thoughts. Give me the comfort of Thy Spirit, that when the flesh is ready to faint through pain and weakness, I may be supported by his power, and enabled to rejoice even in sorrow. May I rejoice that these light afflictions, which endure but for a moment, will, by his grace, work out an exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Even so, blessed Lord, do with me what seemeth good unto thee: sanctify my troubles, and I shall bless the chastening hand. Finally, O Lord, I beseech Thee to help and console all who are suffering under the same, or any other kind of affliction. May their sorrow be turned into joy, by leading them into the way to eternal life. Bless all the kind friends and benefactors who have visited and helped me.

2 John x, 27, 28, 29. 3 Rom. viii. 35, 37, 38, 39.

O remember their work and labour of love when Thou comest to take account of the deeds done in the body. Hear me, O heavenly Father, and grant my petitions for the sake of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour. Amen.

THE END.
