The joint committee on Enrollment report that they did, on this day, to wit. the 23d day of January, A. D. 1846, present to the Governor for his approval, the following bills and resolution, to wit:

"Resolution requiring the Secretary of the Territory to redeem certain bonds and scrip in the hands of the Treasurer of the Territory."

No. 13, (H. of R.) "A bill to amend an act entitled ' an act concerning justices of the peace,' and the several acts amendatory thereto;"

No. 19, (C.) "A bill to incorporate the Rock River Mutual Fire Insurance Company ;" and

No. 42, (H. of R.) "A bill to amend an act entitled an act to amend an act to establish the rate of toll for grinding;" Without amendments; and

No. 30, (H. of R.) "A bill to repeal certain acts regulating taverns and groceries;"

No. 40, (H. of R.) "A bill to suppress the sale of ardent spirits ;" and

No. 30, (C.) "A bill to amend an act entitled ' an act to authorize the construction of certain dams across the Rock river,' approved April 1, 1843;"

With amendments.

And also reported progress on the general file of bills, and asked leave to sit again thereon.

Leave was granted.

On motion of Mr. Billings,

No. ́19, (C.) was referred to the committee on Corporations.

The further consideration of No. 13, (H. of R.) was postponed until to-morrow.

The amendments to bill No. 30, (C.) were then concurred in, and said bill ordered to its third reading.

On motion of Mr. Morrow,

No. 40, (H. of R.) was referred to a select committee consisting of Messrs. Morrow, Jackson and Billings.

And the question having been put on concurring in the amendments of the committee of the whole to No. 30, (H. of R.) which was to strike out all after the enacting clause, It was decided in the affirmative.

And the ayes and noes having been called for,

Those who voted in the affirmative were,

Messrs. Brown, Burnett, Clapp, Croswell, Cruson, Fisher, Jackson, Morrow, Parker, Phelps, Pole, Sheldon, Wooster and Darling, (Speaker,)-14.

Those who voted in the negative were,

Mr. Cruson moved to amend the bill by inserting the fol lowing as section 1st:

Sec. 1. No license shall hereafter be granted to tavern or innkeepers to sell strong and spirituous liquors and wines for a less sum than is now provided for grocery licenses by the third section of an act of the Revised Statutes entitled' an act regulating taverns and groceries;'"

Which was decided in the negative.

Mr. Mooers moved to amend the bill by inserting the following section:

Sec. 1. That no consideration or sum of money shall be hereafter demanded or received for any tavern or grocery li

cense to be granted within this Territory ;"

Which was decided in the affirmative.

And the ayes and noes having been called for,
Those who voted in the affirmative were,

Those who voted in the negative were,

Mr. Brown moved that said bill be laid on the table.

Which was decided in the negative.

And the ayes and noes having been called for,

Messrs. Brawley, Brown. Burnett, Cruson, Fisher, Jackson, Jones, Morrow, Phelps, Pole, Sheldon and Wooster-12. Those who voted in the negative were,

The question then recurred on ordering the bill to be engrossed for a third reading;

Mr. MaGone moved to amend No. 22, (H. of R.) by adding, "Three dollars per ton shall be the established rates for prairie hay, and miners shall henceforth be entitled to only one-half what their labor is worth ;"

Which was decided in the negative.

And the ayes and noes having been called for,
Those who voted in the affirmative were,

On motion of Mr. Burnett,

Ordered, That the Chief Clerk be directed to return to the Council, for their further action,

No. 11, (H. of R.) "A bill to amend an act entitled 'an act to provide the means to pay the public debt of the Terri tory,' approved Feb. 24, 1845."

On motion of Mr. Pole,

The House adjourned.
