No. 5, (C.) A memorial to the Congress of the United States relative to a mail route from the Falls of St. Croix to La Pointe, on Lake Superior ;' also

And also reported progress on the general file of bills, and asked leave to sit again thereon.

Leave was granted.

Mr. Phelps moved that No. 43, (H. of R.) be referred to the committee on Corporations;

Which was agreed to.

No. 36, (C.) was ordered to a third reading; and

On motion of Mr. Mooers,

Ordered, That said bill be read a third time now by its title. Said bill was then read the third time, passed and the title thereof agreed to.

No. 28, (C.) was ordered to its third reading; and

On motion of Mr. MaGone,

Ordered, That said bill be read the third time now by its title.

No. 43, (C.) A bill to change the time of holding the district court in the counties of Iowa and Crawford ;'

No. 16, (H. of R.) 'A bill in addition to an act entitled an act to amend an act of the Revised Statutes entitled 'an act concerning the writ of attachment,' approved February 15th, 1842;'

In which the concurrence of this House is requested.”

Mr. MaGone moved that No. 32, (H. of R.) be referred to a select committee;

Which was disagreed to.

And a division having been called for,

There were ayes 6-noes 10.

The amendments of the committee of the whole to said bill were then concurred in; when

Mr. MaGone moved further to amend said bill as follows: Strike out all after the word 'Milwaukee,' in the first section, to the word 'two,' in the second line, and insert the following: lying west of the east line of range twenty-two, (except the city of Milwaukee.)""

Mr. Thomas moved to amend the amendment by striking but the words "except the city of Milwaukee;"

Which was decided in the negative.

And the ayes and noes having been called for,

Those who voted in the negative were,

The question then recurred on the amendment of Mr. MaGone,

It was decided in the negative.

Messrs. Crawford, Cruson, Earll, Hoard and Thomas-5. Those who voted in the negative were,

Mr. MaGone moved to amend the bill by striking out the word "twenty," and insert the word "nineteen," in the 4th line of the 4th section;

Which was disagreed to.

Mr. Thomas moved to amend by striking out all after the word Milwaukee,' to the word 'in,' in the 5th line of the 1st section. and insert, "All white male inhabitants, above the age of twenty-one years, who have resided in the county ten days previous to the election."

And pending the question on said amendment,

The House adjourned until three o'clock P. M.

The unfinished business of the morning, being the amend ment of Mr. Thomas to

Was then taken up; when

Mr. Thomas modified his amendment by striking out the word "ten," and inserting in lieu thereof the word "thirty." Mr. MaGone moved to lay the said bill and amendments on the table, and that it be made the special order of the day for Wednesday next;

Which was decided in the negative.

And the ayes and noes having been called for,

Those who voted in the affirmative were,

Messrs. Burnett, Clapp, Crawford, Cruson, Dennis, Earll, Fisher, Graves, MaGone, Phelps, Thomas and Darling, (Speaker,)-12.

Those who voted in the negative were,

Messrs. Barstow, Billings, Brown, Croswell, Hoard, Jackson, Jones, Mooers, Morrow, Parker, Pole and Sheldon,-12. Mr. Hoard demanded the previous question.

Mr. Barstow moved a call of the House;

Which was ordered, and Mr. Brawley reported as absent. Mr. Brawley having been reported in attendance,

On motion of Mr. MaGone,

Further proceedings under the call were dispensed with.. And the question was then put,
