Mr. Dennis moved to amend the amendments of the committee of the whole by striking out all after the word "election," in the 1st line, to the word "ten," in the 3d line, and insert the following:

Every white male inhabitant of the age of twenty-one years and upwards, who shall reside in said county sixty days before said election, shall be entitled to vote in the county in which he may reside;"

Which was decided in the affirmative.

And the ayes and noes having been called for,

No. 57, (H. of R.) was taken up; when

Mr. Parker moved to amend the 1st section thereof by striking out all after the word "meeting;"

Which was agreed to.

Mr. Parker moved further to amend the 2d section thereof

by inserting after the word "district," "or for proportioning the district property after such division."

Mr. MaGone moved to re-commit said bill to the committee of the whole;

Which was decided in the negative.

Mr. MaGone moved to re-commit said bill to the committee of the whole;

And the question having been put on concurring in the amendments of the committee of the whole thereto,

It was decided in the negative.

Mr. Morrow moved to amend the 1st section by striking out all after the word "ballot," and insert:

"That on the first Tuesday of April next, and thereafter annually, upon the recurrence of said day of election, in those counties under the town system of government, and for those under the county system at the general annual election of each year after the next ensuing, the white male inhabitants over the age of twenty-one years of the several towns and precincts in this Territory, and who shall have resided in the same 30 days next preceding said day of election, may determine by ;"

Which was disagreed to.

Mr. Morrow moved to amend by striking out as before, and inserting,

"And thereafter annually upon the recurrence of said day of election in those counties under the town system of government, and for those under the county system at the general annual election of each year after the next ensuing ;"

when

Mr. MaGone demanded the previous question.

And the question having been put,

"Shall the main question be now put?"

It was decided in the affirmative.

And the ayes and noes having been called for,

Those who voted in the affirmative were,

Mr. Burnett moved that the rule requiring bills, &c. to be engrossed before being read the third time, be dispensed with, and that said bill be read the third time now;

Which was agreed to.

Said bill was then read the third time, passed and the title thereof agreed to.

Mr. Croswell, from the committee on Schools, to which the subject had been referred, by leave introduced

No. 68, (H. of R.) "A bill to authorize school district No. 1, in Grant county, to levy an additional tax for paying a debt incurred in building a school house;"

Which was read the first and second times,

And, on his motion,

The rule requiring bills, &c. to be printed before being acted upon in the committee of the whole was suspended in reference to this bill.

Mr. Mooers gave notice that on some future day he would ask leave to introduce a bill to organize school district No. 1 in the town of Fond du Lac.

The message of the Council was then taken up, and

No. 52, (C.) "A bill to change the form of government of the county of Dane;" and

No. 63, (C.) "A bill to provide for the payment of J. Gillett Knapp's account against the Territory;"

Were taken up and read the first and second times.

Mr. Dennis moved that said bill No. 63, (C.) be read the third time now;

Which was agreed to.
