Bird, for sheriff s fees in the suits of the Territory versus Doty and others ;" Which was agreed to. Mr. Dennis moved further to amend by adding the following: "Provided, that before the Auditor of the Territory shall be authorized to issue any warrant for the payment of the above named interest, or any portion thereof, he shall be satisfied from an examination of the records of the Secretary and Treasurer's office, that the interest has not before been paid, and shall also require the applicant to file in his office his affidavit that the interest has not before been paid, or any part thereof ;" Which was agreed to. Mr. Burnett, from the committee on the judiciary, to which the petition of inhabitants of Portage county, asking for the removal of the county seat of said county: Also, petition of citizens of Dodge county, asking to have the law regulating the surveying of lands altered: Also, a petition of citizens of the county of Walworth, asking for a repeal of the law taxing personal property in said county: Reported that in the opinion of the committee it was inexpedient to attempt any legislation on the subjects therein. mentioned, at the present session, and asked to be discharged from the further consideration of the said petitions; Which was agreed to.
