A message from the House of Representatives, by Mr. Dougherty, their Clerk:

Mr. President: The House of Representatives agree to the conference asked by the Senate on the disagreeing votes of the two Houses on the amendment proposed by the House of Representatives to the amendments proposed by the Senate to the bill, entitled "An act to provide for paying to the state of Missouri three per cent. of the nett proceeds arising from the sale of the public lands within the same," and have appointed managers at the said conference on their part.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives having signed two enrolled bills, I am directed to bring them to the Senate for the signature of their President. And he withdrew.

The President signed the two enrolled bills last reported to have been examined, and they were delivered to the committee, to be laid before the President of the United States.

Agreeably to the order of the day, the Senate resumed, as in committee of the whole, the consideration of the bill, entitled "An act supplementary to the acts to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary war;" Mr. King, of Alabama, in the chair; and,

On the question,

That the further consideration thereof be indefinitely postponed, as recommended by the committee on pensions,

Ordered, That the Secretary request the concurrence of the House of Representatives in this bill.

The amendments to the bill, entitled "An act making appropriations for the support of government for the year 1822," having been reported by the committee correctly engrossed, the bill was read a third time as amended.

Resolved, That this bill pass with amendments.

The title thereof having been amended, by adding thereto " and for other purposes:"

The bill for the relief of Joseph Forrest was read the second time. The Senate resumed, as in committee of the whole, the consideration of the bill, entitled "An act restoring to the ship Diana the privileges of a sea letter vessel;" and the same having been amended, it was reported to the Senate; and the amendment being concurred in, On the question, "Shall the amendment be engrossed, and the bill read a third time as amended?"

It was determined in the affirmative.

The Senate resumed, as in committee of the whole, the consideration of the bill, entitled "An act altering the time and place of holding the district court in the district of Mississippi;" and an amendment having been made thereto, it was reported to the Senate; and, the amendment being concurred in,

On the question, "Shall the amendment be engrossed, and the bill read a third time as amended?”

It was determined in the affirmative.

On motion, by Mr. Johnson, of Louisiana,
