C, McDougal and James Liles, now reside, in Lawrence county; and that this Act take effect from and after its passage. SEC, 2. Be it further enacted, That the county line between Hawkins and Grainger counties be so changed as to include John Coldwell's farm in Hawkins county.

SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That the county line. between the counties of Overton and Fentress be so Overton and changed as to include the land of Elizabeth Flowers in Fentress. the county of Overton; Provided, That all laws coming in conflict with this Act, be, and the same are hereby, repealed. This Act to take effect from and after its passage.

SEC. 4. Be it further enacted, That the county line between the counties of Wayne and Hardin, be so changed as to include the lands of W, H. Brown in the county of Hardin,

SEC. 5. Be it further enacted, That the county line between the counties of Weakley and the county of Obion, be so changed so as to begin on the county line where it crosses the North Fork of the Obion river, running up said river, with its meanderings, to Davis's Mills; thence North with the road leading from the Mill with Civil District line to the State line; West, with the State line. to the Obion county line; thence South to the beginning; and that this Act take effect from and after its passage.

SEC, 6. Be it further enacted, That the county lines between the counties of Rutherford and Williamson, be Rutherford 80 changed as to run as follows: beginning at the Southand William- East corner of Williamson county and the North boundary line of Bedford county, running Westwardly with the Bedford and Marshall county line to the Fayetteville and Farmington Turnpike; thence North with the said Turnpike road to the line between Mrs, Crump's and T, F. P. Allison's land East of the pike; thence East with line between Allison's and Bellafant and J. Jordan's, Sr., and Joshua Johnson's heirs, to J. Jordan's North-East corner; thence North to Harpeth river; thence down the same to where the big road that runs from College Grove to Williamson Jordan's old homestead crosses the same; thence East with said road to the Eaglesville, Unionville and Salem Turnpike; thence North with the same to the culvert, near the toll-house; thence East with the big road. via John Haley's; and thence Eastwardly to the Rutherford county line; and thence, as at present, with said line between Rutherford and Williamson counties,

SEC, 7. Be it further enacted, That the line between

the counties of Bedford and Rutherford, be changed so Bedford and as to include the farms of William Williams and C. H. Rutherford. Lamb, in the county of Rutherford; and that this Act

take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER XIV.

AN ACT to Amend an Act passed November 21st., 1866.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, That An Act passed November 21, 1866, and entitled "An Act to compensate Justices of the Peace and Jurors," be so amended as to read :—that all Justices of the Peace of this State, attending Quar- Justices' comterly Courts of their respective counties, shall be entitled to and receive two dollars per diem, for their attendance; and all Jurors attending any of the Courts of this State, shall be entitled to and receive two dollars per diem for their attendance. All mileage as heretofore.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER XV.

AN ACT to Encourage Immigration to Tennessee.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, That there shall be a Board of Board of Immigration. Immigration created, consisting of five members, three of whom shall be appointed by the Governor.

the Secretary of State shall be ex-officio members of this Board; and it shall be its duty to do all and everything which may and will advance and encourage immigration to this State, either from other States or from Europe.

SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That the Board shall cause to be published, from time to time, in such manner Publications, as it may deem proper and advisable, pamphlets, essays,

newspaper articles and advertisements, descriptive of the developed and undeveloped resources of the State, agricultural and mineral; and setting forth such other facts and information as shall have a tendency to attract attention and encourage immigration to the State. It shall also have power to appoint an Agent or Agents for the Northern or Eastern States of the United States, or for Europe, for the purpose of advancing immigra tion; such Agent or Agents, to act under the instructions of said Board of Immigration; and shall receive such compensation for their services as said Board shall allow, to be paid out of any funds that may hereafter be created; and the said Board may do any act, and employ or draft any agencies or appliances, calculated or necessary to effect the purpose designed by this

Act.

SEC. 4. Be it further enacted, That meetings of the Board shall be held on the first Mondays in November, February, May and August, at the Capitol, in Nashville, and at such other times and places as the majority of the Board may direct.

SEC. 5. Be it further enacted, That the Board, at its first regular meeting, shall elect a Secretary and a Treasruer said officers to be elected from the members composing the Board.

SEC. 6. Be it further enacted, That the Board of Immigration is further authorized, and shall have power, to open books and invite and solicit contributions and endowments of money, from corporations, manufacturers and any other persons; which money, when contributed, shall be under the control of and be expended by the Board for the interests and purposes in the preceding sections stated.

SEC. 7. Be it further enacted, That it shall be the duty of said Board to cooperate with the Bureau of Immigration, at Washington City, and to make regular reports of its labors and proceedings to the General Assembly of the State, accompanied by such references, suggestions and statistics as may furnish good and reliable data and proper basis for future legislation on the subject of Immigration.

SEC. 8. Be it further enacted, That the sum of one

thousand dollars, annually, is hereby appropriated, out of any moneys in the Treasury of the State, not otherwise. CHAPTER XVI,

AN ACT to Change the time of holding the Circuit Court in Stewart
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, That hereafter the November Term of the Circuit Court for the county of Stewart, at Dover, Time. shall be held as provided in the Code, on the second Monday in November, instead of the first Monday in November, as provided in the Acts of 1859-60.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That a Special Term of the Circuit Court of said county of Stewart, shall be held at Dover, commencing on the second Monday in December, 1867; and that all Sheriffs and Officers, Attorneys, Suitors, Witnesses and other persons bound to appear at Special Term. the Regular Term of said Court on the first Monday in November, 1867, shall appear at the said Special Term ; and in case of default be subject to the same forfeitures and other consequences as they would have been at the said Regular Term.

SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect from and after its passage.
