A

LITTLE that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the

Lord upholdeth the righteous.

The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.

For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth: and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

O

Now with the rising golden dawn,
Let us, the children of the day,
Cast off the darkness which so long
Has led our guilty souls astray.

Oh, may the morn so pure, so clear,
Its own sweet calm in us instil;
A guileless mind, a heart sincere,
Simplicity of word and will:

And ever, as the day glides by,

May we the busy senses rein;

Keep guard upon the hand and eye,

Nor let the body suffer stain.

For all day long, on heaven's high tower,
There stands a sentinel, who spies

Our every action, hour by hour,

From early dawn till daylight dies.

LORD, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day: defend us in the same with thy mighty power, and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all our doings may be ordered by thy governance, to do always that which is righteous in thy sight, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Now

TOW there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit ;

To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit ;

To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

O

LET thy good Spirit by the word
Work mightily within us, O Lord,
Our souls and bodies filling!
O let the sun of grace shine bright,
That there may be abundant light
In us and in our dwelling:
On our way, night and day,
With the heavenly manna feed us,
To the heavenly Canaan lead us.

ALMIGHTY and merciful God, who givest unto thy people thy Holy Spirit as a sure pledge of thy heavenly kingdom: grant that thy Spirit may bear witness with our spirit, that we are thy children and heirs of everlasting life. O Lord, we beseech thee to keep thy Church and household continually in thy true religion; that they who do lean only upon the hope of thy heavenly grace may be defended by thy mighty power, and at length received into thy everlasting kingdom. Amen.

FOR

OR as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body.

And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members re joice with it.

SEND peace and blessing from above,
Unite us all in faith and love,

Who in this house are living;
Let charity our hearts prepare
To suffer long and all things bear,
Meek, gentle, and forgiving:
Nor in aught Christ hath taught
Let us fail to one another,

But each love and help his brother.

HEAVENLY Father, who hast commanded us to love one another as thy children, and hast ordained the highest friendship in the bond of thy Spirit we beseech thee to maintain and preserve us therein, with all those to whom we are bound by any especial tie. Send down upon us the dew of thy heavenly grace, and pour thy Spirit into our hearts, that, walking in thy way all the days of our lives, we may have joy in each other that passeth not away; and, having lived together in love here, may hereafter live for ever together in that blessed kingdom to which thy glorified Son will welcome all his faithful disciples. Amen.

FOR loveth jurved for ever: but the seed of

the wicked shall be cut off.

The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.

The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land:

I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay-tree.

Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

Ο

Now doth the sun ascend the sky,
And wake creation with its ray;
Keep us from sin, O Lord most high,
Through all the actions of the day.

So when the evening stars appear,
And in their train the darkness bring;
May we, O Lord, with conscience clear,
Our praise to thy pure glory sing.

UR Father, who dost speak to us to-day as to thy servants of old, in the order of nature and life as from Sinai's awful mount: thy righteous laws, wrought into the very frame of our being, bring penalties for every disobedience, and unfailing reward to all fidelity. Thanks for the precepts, the example, the life, the character of Jesus Christ, the glorious pattern of the perfect life. O Father, look upon us in mercy and help us. We have manifold needs: thou hast the inexhaustible fulness whence all our wants may be supplied. Thou who in thy good providence dost give us our daily bread, oh, give to us that bread of life without which our souls perish. Thou who hast given us this mortal existence, prepare us we pray thee for the life immortal.

Amen.

OLESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel

BLESSED is godly, not standeth in the way of sinners,

nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

FATHER in heaven, to whom our hearts
Would lift themselves in prayer,

Drive from our souls each earthly thought,
And show thy presence there.

Each moment of our lives renews
The mercies of the Lord;

Each moment is itself a gift
To bear us on to God.

Help us to break the galling chains
This world has round us thrown ;
Each passion of our hearts subdue,
Each cherished sin disown.

O Father! kindle in our souls
A never-dying flame

Of holy love, of grateful trust,
In thine almighty name.

ALMIGHTY God, Father of all mercies, we thin

unworthy servants do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all men: we bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but, above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful, and that we may show forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives; by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
