O LORD, with Whom are all the spirits of the just made perfect;

O LORD, Who didst put Thy words into the mouth of Thy holy Patriarchs and Prophets;

O LORD, Who didst choose Thy Twelve Apostles from among all other

men;

O LORD, Who didst inspire and guide Thy holy Evangelists;

O LORD, Who didst give grace to all Thy holy Martyrs ;

O LORD, hear us.

Through the mystery of Thy holy Incarnation,

Through Thy Nativity,

Through Thy Baptism and Fasting, Through Thy Cross and Passion, Through Thy Death and Burial, Through Thy holy Resurrection, Through Thine admirable Ascension, Through the Coming of the HOLY GHOST, the Paraclete,

Have mercy on us.

O LORD, deliver us.

In the day of Judgment we sinners beseech Thee

That Thou wouldst bring us to true repentance;

That Thou wouldst abundantly pardon us;

That Thou wouldst vouchsafe to govern and preserve Thy holy Church;

O LORD, hear us.

That Thou wouldst give true peace and unity to all Christian people; That Thou wouldst lift up our minds to heavenly desires;

That Thou wouldst endow us, and all those dear to us, with eternal blessings;

That Thou wouldst deliver our souls, and the souls of our brethren, relations, and benefactors from eternal damnation;

That Thou wouldst vouchsafe to grant us, in Thine own good time, to enter into the eternal and blessed rest prepared for Thy faithful departed;

O LORD, hear us.

Lamb of GOD, That takest away the sins of the world;

Spare us, O LORD.

Lamb of GOD, That takest away the sins of the world;

Grant us Thy peace.

Our FATHER, &c.

V. O LORD, save Thy servants.
R. For our hope is in Thee.

Be unto us, O LORD, a Tower of strength,
From the face of our enemy:

Send us help, O LORD, from Thy sanctuary,

And defend us out of Sion.

O Blessed LORD our GOD, pour upon us

the dew of Thy grace, and grant to us that we may steadfastly follow, in deed as well as in profession, those Thy Saints whose glorious conquests and yet more glorious triumph we commemorate, through JESUS CHRIST Our LORD.

Almighty and everlasting GOD, Who hast enabled Thy Saints not only to believe in Thy SON JESUS CHRIST, but also to suffer for His sake; we beseech Thee grant the same Thy Divine strength to our weakness, that their example may stir us up to lead a holier life, and to walk more closely in the narrow path of the Cross, whereby they attain to Thee, O our Great Reward. Grant that, as they breathed out their happy souls in the hope of Thy everlasting mercy, so we may cleave steadfastly to Thee in life and in death, so that at the last we may be received into the kingdom of Thy glory, and enjoy the fellowship of those Thy Saints in eternal gladness, standing before Thy Face, and beholding Thee in Thy glory for ever and ever.

O GOD, Who hast willed that the gate of mercy should stand open to the faithful; look upon us, and have mercy on us, that we, by Thy grace following in the way that Thy most Blessed SON has opened to us, may never turn aside to the pleasures of this world, but may, with all Thy Saints gone

before, attain to life everlasting, through the same our LORD and SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST. Amen.

O merciful JESUS, Who, when Thou tookest upon Thee to deliver man, didst not abhor the Virgin's womb; vouchsafe evermore to dwell in our hearts; inspire us with Thy Purity; strengthen us with Thy Might; make us perfect in Thy Ways; guide us into Thy Truth; and unite us to Thyself and to Thy whole Church by Thy holy mysteries; that we may conquer every adverse power, and may be wholly devoted to Thy service and conformed to Thy will, to the glory of GOD the FATHER. Amen.

S. ANDREW.

"One of the two which heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias."-S. John i. 40, 41.

The first who was called by CHRIST was the first to lead a brother to CHRIST. "He findeth his own brother Simon." No sooner

have the good tidings sounded in his ears, than he longs to communicate them.. No sooner is he alive to the call which has been made to himself, than he is anxious to share it with his brother. And Andrew is employed to bring in Peter. The one of lesser distinction, to lead the other, who was afterward to take the foremost place. And herein is shown the meaning of such words as "Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you." And again, that "GOD hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty."

From this call and conduct then of S. Andrew I will endeavour to learn some important lessons. And

1. I learn that the cause of our call to any ministry or work in GOD's service, is the goodness of GOD, and the merits of JESUS CHRIST our LORD. In other words, that it is of grace we are called. So that we must not be proud of gifts or good dispositions if we have them, nor should we despond if we are without them. For GOD is able to make all grace abound to us.

2. I admire, and seek to have in common with S. Andrew, his intense desire for his own perfection. Having heard from his first master, S. John the Baptist, that JESUS was "the Lamb of GOD," he immediately ran after CHRIST, and was drawn to Him,
