RULES AND ORDERS

OF THE

SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK.

ADOPTED BY THE SENATE, JANUARY 1, 1884.

ORDER OF BUSINESS.

RULE 1. President to take the chair; journal to be read RULE 2. Order of business.

OF THE PRESIDENT.

RULE 3. May appoint senator to perform duties of chair RULE 4. To name chairman for committee of the whole, RULE 5. To assign door-keepers to their respective duties and stations.

RULE 6. To certify passage of all bills.

OF THE CLERK.

RULE 7. To have journals printed and placed on file. RULE 8. To furnish, daily, printed list of general orders; with president to see that all bille

are acted upon in order in which reported; calendar.

RULE 9. To present bills originating in senate to governor, and enter on journals.

RULE 10. To designate reporters.

OF THE RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF SENATORS. RULE 11. Relative to presentation of petitions, reports, resolutions, etc.

RULE 12. To preserve order while journals or public papers are being read.

Debate; senators to address the president, and not to proceed until recognized, limi tation; president to decide who entitled to floor.
