PSALM IV.

1 O GOD of my righteousness, hear me when I call: Thou hast set me at liberty when I was in trouble; have mercy upon me, and hearken unto my

prayer.

20 ye sons of men, how long will ye blaspheme mine honour and have pleasure in vanity ?

O GOD, the Protector of all that trust in Thee, without Whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply upon us Thy mercy; that, Thou being our Ruler and Guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we finally lose not the things eternal: Grant this, O heavenly Father, for Jesus Christ's sake, our Lord. PSALM LXIII.

1 O GOD, Thou art my God: early will I seek Thee.

2 My soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh also longeth after Thee: in a barren and dry land, where no water is.

3 Thus have I looked for Thee in holiness: that I might behold Thy power and glory.

4 For Thy loving-kindness is better than life itself: my lips shall praise Thee.

5 As long as I live will I magnify Thee on this manner and lift up my hands in Thy Name.

8 Because Thou hast been my helper: therefore under the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice. Hallelujah. GREENE. PURCELL.

[blocks in formation]

1 O GOD, Thou hast cast us out, and scattered us abroad: Thou hast also been displeased; O turn Thee unto us again.

2 Thou hast moved the land, and divided it: heal the sores thereof, for it shaketh.

11 O be Thou our help in trouble: for vain is the help of man.

12 Through God will we do great acts: for it is He that shall tread down our enemies.

PURCELL.

145

PSALM LXXIV.

1 O GOD, wherefore art Thou absent from us so long? why is Thy wrath so hot against the sheep of Thy pasture ?

2 O think upon Thy congregation: whom Thou hast purchased and redeemed of old.

3 Think upon the tribe of Thine inheritance: and mount Sion, wherein Thou hast dwelt.

12 The heavens are Thine, the earth also is Thine: Thou hast laid the foundation of the round world, and all that therein is. Amen.
