8 And a highway shall be there: it shall be called the way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it.

9 But the redeemed shall walk there.

10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Sion with songs, and everlasting joy upon their heads; they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

S. S. WESLEY.

5, 6. THEN shall the eyes of the blind be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing.

Isaiah xl. 11. He shall feed His flock like a shepherd; and he shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.

St. Matthew xi. 28. Come unto Him, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and He shall give you rest.

29 Take His yoke upon you, and learn of Him, for He is meek and lowly of heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.

PSALM XLVI.

4 THERE is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.

God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God shall help her and that right early.

8 THERE were shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flocks by night.

9 And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people:

11 For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying:

14 Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth, good-will towards men!"

PSALM CVII.

23 THEY that go down to the sea in ships: and occupy their business in great waters ;

24 These men see the works of the Lord: and His wonders in the deep.

25 For at His word the stormy wind ariseth: which lifteth up the waves thereof.

26 They are carried up to the heaven, and down again to the deep: their soul melteth away because of the trouble.

27 They reel to and fro and stagger like a drunken man: and are at their wits' end.

28 So when they cry unto the Lord in their trouble: He delivereth them out of their distress.

29 For He maketh the storm to cease: so that the waves thereof are still.

30 Then are they glad because they are at rest: and so He brought them into the haven where they would be.

31 O that men would therefore praise the Lord for His goodness: and declare the wonders that He doeth for the children of men!

32 That they would exalt Him also in the congregation of the people: and praise Him in the seat of the elders.

22 We will tell out His works with gladness.

1 CHRON. XXIX.

11 THINE, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty.

For all that is in the heaven and the earth are Thine. Thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and Thou are exalted as Head over all.

PSALM LXV.

KENT.

1 THOU, O God, art praised in Sion: unto Thee shall the vow be performed in Jerusalem.

2 Thou that hearest the prayer: unto Thee shall all flesh come.

3 Be merciful unto our sins.

4 Blessed is the man whom Thou choosest, and receivest unto Thee: he shall dwell in Thy court, and shall be satisfied with the pleasures of Thy house, even of Thy holy temple.

5 Thou shalt shew us wonderful things, O God of our salvation: Thou art the hope of all the ends of the earth.

7 Thou stillest the raging of the sea: and the noise of his waves, and the madness of the people.

9 Thou visitest the earth, and blessest it: Thou makest it very plenteous :

12 And crownest the year with Thy goodness. 14 The folds shall be full of sheep: the valleys also shall stand so thick with corn, that they shall laugh and sing. GREENE. WISE.

3 THOU wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee.

Psalm cxxxix. 11. The darkness is no darkness with Thee, but the night is as clear as the day: the darkness and light to Thee are both alike.

1 John i. 5. God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

Psalm cxix. 175. Oh let my soul live, and it shall praise Thee.

Matt. vi. 13. For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory for evermore.

HAGGAI II.

6 THUS saith the Lord of Hosts: Yet once, a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, the sea, and the dry land;

7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come.

Mal. iii. 1. The Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, He shall come, saith the Lord of Hosts.

2 But who may abide the day of His coming? and who shall stand when He appeareth? for He is like a refiner's fire.

3 And He shall purify the sons of Levi, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righte

ousness.

PSALM LXXVII.

13 THY way, O God, is holy: who is so great a God as our God?

14 Thou art the God that doeth wonders.

15 Thou hast mightily delivered Thy people. 16 The waters saw Thee, O God, the waters saw Thee, and were afraid: the depths also were troubled. 17 The clouds poured out water, the air thundered, and Thine arrows went abroad.

18 The voice of Thy thunder was heard round about the lightnings shone upon the ground: the earth was moved and shook withal. Hallelujah. PURCELL.

105 THY word is a lantern unto my feet: and a light unto my paths.

106 I have sworn, and am stedfastly purposed: to keep Thy righteous judgments.

107 I am troubled above measure: quicken me, O Lord, according to Thy word.

108 Let the free will offering of my mouth please Thee, O Lord: and teach me Thy judg

ments.

110 The ungodly have laid a snare for me: but yet I swerved not from Thy commandments.

111 Thy testimonies have I claimed as my heritage for ever: and why? they are the very joy of my heart. Hallelujah. PURCELL.

To God on high be thanks and praise,
Who deigns our bonds to sever,

His cares our drooping souls upraise,
And harm shall reach us never;
On Him we rest with faith assur'd,
Of all that live the mighty Lord
For ever and for ever.
