Hon. Mr. Stoughton of the Second District, introduced a resolution authorizing the new Board of State House Commissioners to expend $500,000 additional if necessary.

The resolution was indefinitely postponed.

A resolution appointing Ralph Wheeler Judge of the New London Police Court, was received from the House, having been amended by substituting John P. C. Mather, and as amended passed.

The Senate concurred in the action of the House.

A resolution in favor of Brown & Gross for Connecticut Registers and Trumbull's Notes on the Constitution of Connecticut, was received from the Committee on Contingent Expenses.

The resolution was passed.

Hon. Mr. Marcy of the Twentieth District, introduced a resolution in favor of the Senate reporters for the sum of $200 each.

The resolution was passed.

Hon. Mr. Hoyt of the Twelfth District, introduced a resoolution in favor of the door-keepers for the sum of five hundred dollars each, in lieu of all other compensation.

The resolution was passed.

Hon. Mr. Tenny of the Eighth District, introduced a resolution paying the messengers five hundred dollars each, in lieu of all other compensation.

The resolution was passed.

Hon. Mr. Hoyt of the Twelfth District, introduced a resolution in favor of E. J. Johnson, state house keeper, for three hundred dollars.

The resolution was passed.

Hon. Mr. Wheeler of the Tenth District, introduced a resolution extending the thanks of the Senate to Henry L. Goodwin for his services in attending to the calender and other printing.

The resolution was passed.

A resolution in favor of Rev. Charles R. Fisher and Rev. Edwin P. Parker $150 each for services as chaplains, was received from the Committee on Contingent Expenses.

The resolution was passed.

A resolution in favor of Charles H. Butler, door-keeper, for the sum of $51.96 for lemonade and sundries, was received from the Committee on Contingent Expenses.

The resolution was passed.

A resolution appropriating $112.50 to George H. Cowell, clerk, for postage and expressage, was received from the Committee on Contingent Expenses.

The resolution was passed.

Hon. Mr. Tenny of the Eighth District, introduced a resolution in favor of George H. Cowell, clerk, for the sum of three hundred dollars for office rent for 1873.

The resolution was passed.

The vote of the corporation of Trinity College surrendering

exemption of its officers from taxation, was received from the House, having been accepted, and ordered on file in the office of the secretary of state.

The Senate concurred in the action of the House.

On motion, ordered, that when the Senate adjourns it be to meet to-morrow morning at 8.30 A. M.

On motion, the President declared the Senate adjourned.

Petition No. The petition of Ralph Cheney and 227 others, of South Manchester, for a Prohibitory Law, was received from the House, having been indefinitely postponed. The Senate concurred in the action of the House.

RESOLUTIONS.

A resolution suspending work upon the New State House until the new Commission shall be appointed, was received from the House, having been passed.

The Senate concurred in the action of the House.

A resolution in favor of P. J. Secor for two hundred and. fifty dollars, was received from the House, having been indefinitely postponed.

The Senate concurred in the action of the House.

Hon. Mr. Marcy, of the Twentieth District, introduced a resolution in favor of John L. Harper for one hundred dollars for services in State House.

The resolution was passed.

Hon. Mr. Stannard, of the Nineteenth District, introduced a resolution in favor of P. J. Secor, for the sum of one hundred dollars for services in Senate Hall, etc.

The resolution was passed.

A resolution appointing Monroe E. Merrill Judge of the Hartford Police Court, heretofore passed by the House and rejected by the Senate, was received from the House, it having adhered.

The Senate adhered.

Hon. Mr. Landers of the First District, introduced a resolution appointing Monroe E. Merrill Judge of the Hartford Police Court.

The resolution was rejected.

Hon. Mr. Tenny of the Eighth District, introduced a resolution in favor of F. B. Palmer for twenty-five dollars for services rendered.

The resolution was passed.

A resolution in favor of Brown & Gross for one thousand and twenty-seven dollars and ten cents, for stationery furnished the Senate and Committees, was received from the Committee on Contingent Expenses.

The resolution was passed.

A resolution appointing Irad Edwards County Commissioner for Hartford County, heretofore passed by the Senate and amended by the House by substituting the name of Samuel F. Talmadge, was received from the House, it having insisted in its former action.

On motion the Senate receded and concurred in the action of the House.

A resolution appointing Albert N. Hathaway Associate Judge of the City Police Court of the City of Hartford, heretofore passed by the House and indefinitely postponed by the Senate, was received from the House, it having adhered to its former action.

The Senate adhered.

A resolution appointing Albert N. Hathaway Judge of the City Police Court of Hartford, was received from the House, having been indefinitely postponed.

The Senate concurred in the action of the House.

The President being called from the Senate, the President pro tem. took the chair.

A resolution fixing the time of final adjournment of the General Assembly at 10 o'clock A. M., July 11th, heretofore passed by the House and tabled by the Senate, was taken from the table, amended by substituting July 12th, at 10 1-2 o'clock, and as amended passed.

A resolution appointing Samuel T. C. Merwin Judge of the Norwich Police Court, was received from the House, having been indefinitely postponed.

The Senate concurred in the action of the House.

Hon. Mr. Merrow of the Twenty-first District, introduced a resolution extending the thanks of the Senate to S. A. Hubbard of the Courant, Warren H. Burr of the Times, and John H. Brocklesby of the Evening Post, Senate reporters, for their accurate reports of the proceedings of the Senate.

The resolution was passed.

Hon. Mr. Wheeler of the Tenth District, introduced a resolution tendering the thanks of the Senate to George H. Cowell, Clerk of the Senate, for the faithful, courteous, and efficient manner in which he has performed his duties during the present session.

The resolution was passed.

Senator Stannard moved a vote of thanks to Senator Tenny, the president pro tem., for the courteous manner in which he had discharged the duties of his office; passed unanimously. Hon. Mr. Hoyt of the Twelfth District, introduced the following resolution:

SENATE, MAY SESSION, 1873.

Resolved, That the thanks of the Senate are hereby extended to His Honor George G. Sill, Lieutenant-Governor of this State, for the courteous, dignified, and impartial manner in which he has presided over its deliberations during the present session.

Senator Hoyt, in support of the resolution, spoke as follows:
