Senate Joint Resolution No. 8. Hon. Mr. Elmer, of the Eighteenth District, introduced a resolution incorporating the German Benevolent Society of Middletown.

HOUSE RESOLUTIONS.

House Joint Resolution No. 23. The resolution appointing a committee to examine the foundation walls of new State House was taken from the table and indefinitely postponed.

Hon. Mr. Landers, of the First District, introduced a resolution appointing a Joint-Select Committee de New State House, being a substitute for House Resolution No. 23.

The resolution was passed.

House Joint-Resolution No. 24. A resolution authorizing Court of Probate for District of Hartford to grant letters of administration upon estate of Sarah A. Wells, deceased, was received from the House, having been referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

House Joint-Resolution No. 25. A resolution incorporating the Meriden Britannia Company was received from the House, having been referred to the Committee on Incorporations.

The Canvassers' Report on Votes for Representatives in Congress was received from the House, having been accepted and ordered on file in the office of the Secretary of State. The Senate concurred in the action of the House.

REPORTS ON PETITIONS.

Petition No. 20. The report of the Committee on Railroads on the petition of Henry W. Buell et al., second mortgage bond-holders of the Shepaug Valley Railroad Company, recommending that the prayer thereof be granted, and submitting a resolution, was take from the table.

The resolution was passed, the prayer of the petition granted, and the report accepted.

REPORTS ON REPORTS.

The Report of the Committee on Finance recommending that the annual report of the Comptroller be accepted and ordered on file in the office of the Secretary of State, was received. The report was accepted and ordered on file.

MISCELLANEOUS.

On motion of Hon. Mr. Landers, of the First District, the Resolution de Amendment to Constitution as to State Capital, was made the order of the day for next Wednesday, May 21st, at 11 1-2 o'oclock, A. M.

On motion, ordered, that when the Senate adjourns it be to meet on Tuesday, May 20th, at 11 1-2 o'clock A. M.

On motion the President declared the Senate adjourned.

Petition No. 71. The petition of New York and New England Railroad Company, for authority to borrow money

on mortgage, was received from the House, having been referred to the Committee on Railroads.

Petition No. 79. The petition of Anson Fowler et al., for the appointment of a Commissioner to examine into the treatment of paupers in the State, was received, and referred to the Committee on Humane Institutions.
