After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Creamer, from said committee, reported progress on the first named bill, and asked and obtained leave to sit again.

Mr. Creamer, from the same committee, reported in favor of the passage of the second named bill, with amendments, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

The Senate again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

"An act to incorporate the city of Ogdensburgh."

"An act in relation to the Normal School at Cortland, and confirming the action of the village trustees in reference thereto."

"An act for the relief of Theodocia Wall, Amasa P. Hart, Oliver Breed, Joseph J. Glass, Edwin P. Hopkins, George G. Breed, Edmund' Merry and Daniel Hubbard."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Humphrey, from said committee, reported progress on the two first named bills, and asked leave to sit again.

Mr. Parker moved that the first entitled bill be recommitted to the committee on municipal affairs, with power to report complete.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

The President then put the question whether the Senate would agree to the report of the committee of the whole, on the second entitled bill, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Humphrey, from the same committee, reported in favor of the passage of the last named bill, without amendment, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

The Senate again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

Assembly, "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to alter the commissioners' map of the city of Brooklyn,' passed April 22, 1867."

"An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the village of Port Jervis,' passed March 30, 1866."

"An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the Brooklyn Trust Company,' passed April 14, 1866."

The Senate again met.

The Assembly sent for concurrence the bills entitled as follows: "An act to authorize the electors of the towns of Oyster Bay and North Hempstead, Queens county, to raise money by tax," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties. "An act to incorporate the Young Men's Father Matthew United Benevolent Total Abstinence Benefit Society, branch No. 1, of the city of New York," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on charitable and religious societies.

"An act to incorporate the Eleventh Ward Savings Bank in the city of New York," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on banks.

"An act to incorporate the Father Matthew Total Abstinence Benefit Society No. 1, of the village of Tuckahoe, in the town of Eastchester, Westchester county," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on charitable and religious societies.

"An act to incorporate Empire Engine and Eagle Hose Company No. 4, of the city of Utica," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on municipal affairs.

The Assembly returned the bill entitled as follows:

"An act to provide for an additional supply of water in the city of Albany."

Ordered, That the Clerk deliver said bill to the Governor.

The Assembly returned the following entitled bill, with a message that they had passed the same, without amendment:

"An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the General Theological Seminary of the Protestant Episcopal Church, in the United States,' passed April 5, A. D. 1822.”

Ordered, That the Clerk deliver said bill to the Governor.

The President announced the special order, being the bill entitled as follows:

"An act to repeal the act entitled 'An act to enlarge the powers and define the duties of the Contracting Board,' passed March 14, 1857; and to repeal the act entitled 'An act to amend the act entitled 'An act to enlarge the powers and duties of the Contracting Board,' passed March 14, 1857; passed April 23, 1867; and to define the method in which the repairs of the canals shall be hereafter conducted.'"

The Senate then resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of said bill.

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Beach, from said committee, reported progress on said bill and asked and obtained leave to sit again.

Mr. Stanford moved that said bill be made the special order for Thursday morning, after the order of business of third reading of bills.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative, two-thirds of all the Senators present voting in favor thereof.

The Senate again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

Assembly, "An act to amend chapter 286 of Laws of 1863, entitled 'An act for the better support of the poor in the city of Poughkeepsie, in the county of Dutchess,' passed April 29, 1863."

"An act to enable the Clifton Iron Company to transport passengers, and for other purposes."

"An act providing for relief against illegal taxation in the county of Monroe and city of Rochester, and confirming the acts of the board of

supervisors of Monroe county, and the common council of Rochester, in respect thereto.”

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Thayer, from said committee, reported in favor of the passage of the first named bill, with an amendment, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Thayer, from the same committee, reported in favor of the passage of the two last named bills, without amendment, which report was agreed to and said bills ordered engrossed for a third reading. On motion of Mr. Norton, the Senate adjourned.

The journal of yesterday was read and approved.

Mr. Cauldwell presented a petition of Townsend Young and 300 other citizens of the town of Ossining, for the repeal of chapter 958 of the Laws of 1867, entitled "An act to provide for straightening and working the highway leading from Losee's Corners to the village of Sing Sing, in the town of Ossining," which was read and referred to the committee on roads and bridges.

Mr. Folger presented a petition of the N. Y. Juvenile Guardian Society, for State aid, which was read and referred to the committee on finance. Mr Pierce presented a petition of C. F. Estee, Secretary of the Greenpoint and Williamsburgh railroad, to have said road consolidated with the Nassau railroad, Brooklyn, which was read and referred to the committee on railroads.

Mr. Humphrey, from the committee on commerce and navigation, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 115 of the Laws of 1865, entitled 'An act concerning the pilots of the channel of the East river, commonly called Hell Gate,' passed April 15th, 1847; as amended by acts passed March 12th, 1860; and again by acts passed March 14th, 1865," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Humphrey, from the committee on commerce and navigation, to which was referred the petition of the International Dock Company, for an act of incorporation, reported by bill entitled "An act to incorporate the International Dry Dock Company," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time. and committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Crowley, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to legalize the election of constable in the village of Batavia, in the county of Genesee," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Crowley, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was recommitted the bill entitled "An act to revise the charter of the city of Auburn," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, with amendments, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.
