Mr. Thayer offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the usual edition of 1,500 copies of the annual report of the Canal Commissioners, be printed as heretofore, for the Commissioners.

Ordered, That said resolution be referred to the committee on public printing.

On motion of Mr. Beach and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to provide for building a bridge over Chambers' creek, in the towns of Newburgh and New Windsor, in the county of Orange, and for making free the present toll-bridge over Murderer's creek, in the town of New Windsor," was recommitted to the committee on roads and bridges, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Stanford and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to constitute a separate road district in the town of Palatine, in the county of Montgomery," was recommitted to the committee on roads and bridges, with power to report complete.

Mr. Stanford offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the bill entitled "An act to revive, continue and amend the several acts to incorporate and to increase capital stock, and to extend the powers of the Sodus Canal Company," be recommitted to the committee on canals, retaining its place on general orders.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Hale and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act in relation to the New York, Housatonic and Northern Railroad Company," was recommitted to the committee on railroads, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Kennedy and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to enable the board of education of the city of Syracuse to transfer the fund belonging to said city arising from the Gospel and School lots, to the permanent fund under their control, for school purposes, and expend the same as a part of such

fund," was recommitted to the committee on municipai affairs, with power to report complete.

Mr. Williams, from a majority of the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the board of town auditors of Summer Hill, Cayuga county, to audit certain . accounts for expenses of raising volunteers, and to authorize the supervisors of said county to levy a tax to pay the same," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with an amendment, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the several bills entitled "An act to extend chapter 898 of the Laws of 1867, entitled 'An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the preservation of moose, wild deer, birds and fresh water fish,' so as to include mink and muskrats;" "An act to amend chapter 898 of the Laws of 1867, entitled ‘An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the preservation of moose, wild deer, birds and fresh water fish,' passed May 13, 1867; so far as the same relates to the counties of Greene and Ulster;" "An act to amend section 13 of chapter 898 of the Laws of 1867, in relation to the preservation of fresh water fish;" also the three bills, each entitled "An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the preservation of moose, wild deer, birds and fresh water fish,' passed May 13, 1867;" and also the petition of citizens of Dutchess county for an amendment of the game laws in relation to woodcock;" reported that they have had the same under consideration, made some amendments thereto, and concluded to report the same, as amended, incorporated in a general bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the preservation of moose, wild deer, birds and fresh water fish,' passed May 13, 1867," and have directed their chairman to report the same to the Senate and recommend its passage.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was recommitted the Assembly bill entitled "An act to provide for draining certain swamp lands in the town of New Rochelle, in the county of Westchester," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, with an amendment, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Folger and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to change the name of 'The New York Ladies' Educational Union,' 999 was recommitted to the committee on charitable and religious societies, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Folger and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to amend and reduce to one act the several acts relating to buildings, and the keeping and storage of combustible materials in the city of New York,' passed May 4, 1866," was recommitted to the committee on the judiciary, with power to report complete.

Mr. Banks offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the petitions and all the papers in the claims of Thos. P. Richards and Johanah Maria Kirchner, be taken from the files and referred to the committee on claims.

On motion of Mr. Creamer and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the supervisor and justices of the peace of the town of Yonkers, in the county of Westchester, to convey certain real estate in the town of Yonkers, to the Yonkers Hospital Association," was recommitted to the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties, with power to report complete. By unanimous consent, Mr. Murphy asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Ship Owners' Association of the State of New York," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on commerce and navigation.

By unanimous consent, Mr. Beach asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to promote the construction of elevated railways in the counties of New York and Westchester," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on railroads.
