The bill entitled "An act to provide for the completion of the improvement of Third street, in the city of Brooklyn, and for the collection of the expense thereof," having been announced for a third reading,

On motion of Mr. Murphy and by unanimous consent, said bill was amended by striking out in first section the word "June," and inserting "September."

Said bill, as amended, was then read a third time.

Mr. Palmer called from the table the resolution from the Assembly, in the words following:

Resolved, (if the Senate concur,) That a respectful message be sent to His Excellency the Governor, requesting the return of Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 286 of Laws of 1863, entitled 'An act for the better support of the poor of the city of Poughkeepsie, county of Dutchess,' passed March 29, 1863," in order that the same may be cor

rected.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Ordered, That the Clerk return said resolution to the Assembly, with a message informing that the Senate have concurred in the passage of the same, without amendment.

Mr. Kennedy, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was recommitted the bill entitled "An act to amend the charter of the city of Syracuse," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

The Senate then resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

"An act to amend chapter 115 of the Laws of 1865, entitled 'An act concerning the pilots of the channel of the East river, commonly called Hellgate,' passed April 15, 1847, as amended by act passed March 12, 1860, and again by act passed March 14, 1865."

"An act to authorize Lewis Runyon to establish and maintain a ferry across the Seneca lake, at Lodi Landing."

"An act to provide for draining wet lands, and to widen and deepen the Rio Grand stream, in the village and town of Goshen."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Pierce, from said committee, reported progress on the first named bill, and asked and obtained leave to sit again.

Mr. Pierce, from the same committee, reported in favor of the passage of the two last named bills, without amendment, which report was agreed to and said bills ordered engrossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Beach and by unanimous consent, the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to provide for building a bridge over Chambers' creek, in the towns of Newburgh and New Windsor, in the county of Orange, and for making free the present tollbridge over Murderer's creek, in the town of New Windsor," was read a third time.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to the final passage of said bill, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the members elected to the Senate voting in favor thereof, and three-fifths of said members being present, as follows:

On motion of Mr. Creamer and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to change the name of the Benevolent Dramatic and Musical Association to the Asylum for Aged and Infirm Hebrews," was recommitted to the committee on charitable and religious societies, with power to report complete.

The Senate again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

"An act to amend the charter of the United States Warehouse Company."

Assembly, "An act for the relief of William Marsh."
