the bill entitled "An act ceding jurisdiction to the United States over David's Island," reported that they have made some amendments thereto, and amended the title so as to read "An act ceding to the United States jurisdiction over David's Island, in the harbor of New Rochelle, and exempting the same from taxes and assessment," and as amended, recommend its passage; said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to authorize the Bloss Coal Mining and Railroad Company to hold real estate," reported that they have made some amendments thereto, and amended the title by adding thereto the words "in this State, to a limited amount, for the purposes of its business," and as amended, recommend its passage; said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

The Assembly returned the bill entitled "An act to authorize the extension of the time for the collection of taxes in the several towns and cities of this State, for the year 1868," with a message that they had passed the same, with the following amendment:

Amend the title by striking out the word "eight" and inserting the word "seven."

Mr. Folger moved to concur in said amendment, with the further amendment, by striking out of the title all after the word "State."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to concur in said amendments, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the members elected to the Senate voting in favor thereof, and three-fifths of said members being prescnt, as follows:

Also, a petition of citizens of Lansingburgh, in favor of a law submitting to the people the question whether the Capital Police law shall continue in force, which was read and referred to the committee on municipal affairs.

Mr. Folger presented a petition of John S. Mills, of New York city, for privilege to run cars through certain streets and avenues in said city, which was read and referred to the committee on railroads.

Mr. Humphrey presented a petition of Z. W. Barrett, for damages to his land caused by the overflowing of waters on the Genesee Valley canal, which was read and referred to the committee on claims.

Mr. Stanford presented a remonstrance of citizens of Canajoharie, against the repeal of the Metropolitan Excise law, which was read and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act for the relief of Robert Gordon, and Frances Gordon, his wife," reported that they have made some amendments thereto, and amended the title so as to read as follows: "An act to enable Robert Gordon, and Frances Gordon, his wife, and each of them to hold and transmit such real estate in this State as they or either of them shall actually occupy for his or her own use," and as amended, recommend its passage; said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

The President presented the annual report of the trustees of the Astor Library, for the year 1867, which was laid on the table and ordered printed.
