EXECUTIVE CHAMBER, To the Speaker of the House of Representatives : I have the honor to transmit to the House of Representatives, for the use of the General Assembly, the memorial of Francis Atohorishon and others, in reference to a claim of the Iroquois Indians upon the State, for payment for lands in this State, which they represent belonged to that tribe' of Indians, and for which they claim to have received no compensation. An act to incorporate the Springfield Ice Company; Reported in favor of its passage, when amended by adding to the bill another section, as follows: SEC. 3. This corporation shall not at any time contract debts exceeding in amount three fourths of its capital stock actually paid in, no part of which shall afterwards be withdrawn, or in any manner diverted from the proper business of such corporation; and if such indebtedness shall exceed that amount, the directors and stockholders shall be personally liable to the creditors of such company for such excess. Also, by changing the number of section "three" in the original bill to section four ; The House agreeing so to amend, the bill as amended was read the third time and passed. Mr. Beattie, from the same committee, to whom was referred House bill entitled H. 4. An act to incorporate the Society of Lafayette at St. Albans, Vermont; Reported in favor of its passage, when amended by adding thereto another section, as follows: Sec. 3. This corporation shall not at any time contract debts exceeding in amount three fourths of its capital stock actually paid in, no part of which shall afterwards be withdrawn, or in any manner diverted from the proper business of such corporation; and if such indebtedness shall exceed that amount, the directors and stockholders shall be personally liable to the creditors of such company for such excess ; Also, by changing the number of the remaining sections. of the bill to correspond with the section added: The House agreeing so to amend, the bill as amended was read the third time and passed. An act to amend section thirty-three of chapter thirty-one of the General Statutes; Was read the third time and passed. Mr. Abell, from the Committee on the Judiciary, to whom was referred House bill entitled H. 39. An act in amendment of section one of an act approved November 20, 1868, entitled "An act relating to warning town meetings "; Reported in favor of its passage, when amended by striking out section two. The amendment was agreed to, and the bill was Ordered to be read the third time to-morrow afternoon. Mr. King presented the petition of J. C. Webster and thirty-six others, inhabitants of the town of Lunenburgh, praying for amendment to the prohibitory laws of the State; Which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary. Mr. Hyde offered the following resolution: Resolved, That when the House adjourn to-morrow afternoon it be until half past two o'clock, Monday after noon; Which was read, and the question being, Shall the resolution be adopted? it was decided in the affirmative—yeas 152, nays 55.
