In présenting to the American public this excellent compend of Universal History, the original work is given entire, without abridgement or alteration. It has been thóirgħt ädvisable; however, to add a few pages to, that part of the history which relates to the discovery and settlement of North America. The portions thús added are distinguished from the rest of the book by being enclosed in brackets. Numerous questions have been prepared for the purpose of facilitating its use as a Textbook in schools.
