First. That the title of the bill be amended by inserting the words "eighteen hundred and seventy-three" before the figures "1873," and by inclosing said figures in brackets, and by striking out the words and figures "of chapter 12, title 9."

Second.-By inserting the words "eighteen hundred and seventy-three" before the figures "1873," in the first line of section 1 of the bill, and by inclosing the figures in brackets. By striking out the words and figures "of chapter 12, tittle 9," in the first line of the said section, and by striking out the word "of" and figures "1897" in the second line of said section. Resolved, by the House, the Senate concurring: That the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate shall each declare his respective house adjourned sine die on Thursday, March 1, 1900, at 12 o'clock M.

Mr. Furry offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Chief Clerk be, and he is hereby authorized to have printed for the use of the members of the House, a suitable number of lists of committees, together with the assignment of rooms and times of meeting; be it further

Resolved, That the time of meeting of committee on Judiciary be on Wednesdays.

On motion of Mr. Furry, the rules were suspended and the resolution was adopted.

The Journal of Tuesday, February 6th, was corrected and approved.

House file No. 105, a bill for an act to amend sections 2778 and 2785 of chapter 14, title 13 of the code of Iowa, relative to employing school teachers in school townships, with report of committee recommending amendment and passage was taken up, and on motion of Mr. Stratton, the report of the committee adopted.

Mr. Stratton moved that the following amendments recommended by the committee be adopted:

By inserting the word "the," in line three (3) of title, between words "of" and "code."

By inserting the word "the," in the last line of section one (1) between the words "in" and "third."

By inserting the word "the," in line two (2) of section two (2) between the words "of" and "code."

Also, that the following be added: "Sec. 3. This act being deemed of immediate importance shall be in force and effect on and after its publication in the Iowa State Register and the Des Moines Leader, newspapers published at Des Moines, Iowa."

Carried.

Mr. Stratton moved that the rule be suspended, and that the bill be considered engrossed and read a third time now, which motion prevailed, and the bill was read a third time.
