This volume is public property, and belongs to the common school district, the high school district, the township district, or the city or county superintendent district to which it is sent. The copy sent to the district clerk is to be kept in his office, for his own use and that of the other members of the board, but it may be loaned to any voter of the district, for a time not to exceed five days. The book should not, however, be loaned to any one, if an annual, special, or adjourned meeting is to take place within ten days; it should be kept in the possession of the clerk, and produced by him at such meeting, for consultation by the voters. The volume which comes to each town clerk is to be kept by him in his office, for his official use, and for the use of the town board of supervisors. These volumes are the property of the school districts, or of the towns, and not the property of the officers in whose possession they may be placed. They hold them only in their official capacity. The copies should be carefully preserved, and with the other school district or town records and property, handed over to successors in office, and a receipt taken for them. 247919 |
