Which was read.

A bill entitled, "an act for the relief of the Central Bank of Florida," was read the third time and passed. ordered that the title be as before stated.

A bill entitled, “an act supplemental to the several acts relating to the Bank of West Florida," was taken from the orders of the day: mr. Duval moved to postpone the consideration of said bill until the first day of September next: the yeas and nays being required on said motion by messrs. Morton & Brown, were Yeas mr. President, messrs. Berthelot, Dennis,

Downing, Duval, Higginbotham, Holloman, Hunter, Johnson,
Kenan, Macon, M'Neil and Wood-13. Nays messrs. Blount
Brown of Columbia, Brown of Jackson, Burritt, M'Cants,
Morton, Ramsey, Sm:th. Tabor and Walker-10. So said
motion prevailed, and said bill is lost.

A bill entitled, "an act to incorporate the East Florida Silk company," was taken up, mr, Duval moved to postpone the consideration thereof until the first day of September next: the yeas and nays being required on said motion, by messrs. Downing and Duval, were Yeas mr. President, messrs. Berthelot, Brown of Columbia, Dennis, Downing, Duval, Higginbotham, Holloman, Hunter, Johnson, Kenan, M'Cants and M'Neil-13. Nays messrs. Blount, Brown of Jackson, Burritt, Macon, Morton, Ramsey, Smith, Tabor, Walker and Wood-10. So said motion prevailed and said bil is lost.

Sundry resolutions reported by mr. Wood in relation to the Portrait of General Washington were again read: the Yeas and Nays being required on the passage, by messrs. Downing and Johnson, were Yeas mr. President, messrs. Berthelot, Blount, Brown of Jackson, Burritt, Dennis, Duval, Holloman, Johnson, Kenan. Macon, M'Cants, Morton, Ramsey, Smith, Tabor, Walker and Wood-18. Nays messrs. Brown of Golumbia, Downing, Higginbotham, Hunter and M'Neil-5. So said resolutions are passed.

The House went into committee of the whole on a bill entiiled, an act providing for the more effectual defence of the Territory of Florida," after some time spent therein the committee rose, and mr. Blount therefrom reported said bill to the House with amendments; which were concurred in, and said bill was read the second time, and on motion of mr. Smith or dered to be referred to a select committee: messrs. Smith, Morton and M'Cants, were appointed thereon.

The House resolved itself into a committee of the whole on a bill entitled, “an act to incorporate the St. Joseph insurance company," after some time spent therein, the committee rose, and mr. Burritt therefrom reported said bill to the House amended: which report was concurred in, and said bill was read the second and third time (the rule being waived) and passed: ordered that the title be as before stated.

Duval therefrom reported said bill to the House amended: which report was concurred in, and said bill was read the second and third time (the rule being waived); the yeas and nays being required on its passage by messrs. Brown of Jackson and Tabor, were Yeas mr. President, messrs. Berthelot, Brown of Columbia, Burritt, Dennis, Downing, Johnson, Kenan, Macon, M'Cants, M'Neil, Morton, Ramsey, Smith, Walker and Wood -16. Nays messrs. Brown of Jackson, Duval, Higginboth am and Tabor-4. So said bill is passed: ordered that the title be as before stated.

The House in committee of the whole again took under consideration a bill entitled, " an act to amend an act to incorporate a company called the St. Andrews and Chipola canal company," passed the third day of February, 1832, after some

time spent therein the committee rose, and mr. Morton therefrom reported said bill to the House, with the enacting clanse stricken out, which report was concurred in by the House, a. d said bill is lost.

A bill entitled, "an act to amend an act to regulate preceed ings in Chancery, approved Nov. 7th 1323," was read the 34 time; the yeas and nays being required on its passige by messrs Duval and Downing, were Yeas messrs. Blount, Bur ritt, Dennis, Duval, Johnson, Kenan, Macon, M'Cants, Morton and Wood-10. Nays mr. President, messrs. Berthelot, Brown of Columbia, Brown of Jackson, Downing, Higginbotham, M'Neil, Ramsey, Smith, Tabor and Walker-11. So said bill is lost.

A bill entitled, "an act to amend an act to provide for the more effectual collection of the revenue, and for other purposes," was again read and ordered for a third reading on to

morrow.

Whereupon the House went into secret session, and advised and consented to the nominations therein made, when the door was again opened.

The House then adjourned until to morrow at 10 o'clock.

Saturday, February 13.

'The House met pursuant to adjournment, a quorum being present, the journal of yesterday's proceedings was read. The following communication was received from His Excellency the Governor :

To the Legislative Council:

February 13th 1836

} of Florida.

I nominate to the Council: Charles Austin, to be treasurer, Thomas Brown, to be auditor, Willis Alston, to be commissioner of the Tallahassee Fund. JOHN H. EATON.

On which the House went into secret session, and after having advised in said nominations and consented to the two first. the last was laid on the table; the doors were again opened.

mr. Wood presented the petition of Sarah B. Shelton for a divorce, which was referred to a select committee; messrs. Wood, Morton, Downing and Brown of Columbia, were thereon appointed, with instructions to report by bill or otherwise. mr. Duval offered the following resolutions:

Resolved by the Legislative Council, That our Delegate be requested to obtain an appropriation for procuring for the ter ritory, a condensed revised code of the Statute Laws of Florida, and that the Governor explain to our Delegate the cause and reason why a future application becomes necessary; if said appropriation be obtained, the Governor be authorized to contract for its compilation and the prinung of the same.

Which was read and ordered to be placed among the orders for a second reading to day.

mr. Wood from the committee on Banks made the following report:
