To the Legislative Council of Florida :

A bill entitled "An act to amend an act, to incorporate a company to be called the Lake Wimico and St. Joseph's Canal Company, passed 11th Feb. 1835," is objected to and returned, that the following amendments may be made to the 5th section of the Enrolled Bill--Insert 'is' in the 3d line between the words 'as' and 'provided', and the same word 'is' in the 4th line, between the words as' and therein'.

And from the words 'therein provided in the 4th line of the same section, strike out ali to the end of the section. Likewise in the 6th section, strike out the 12th section af said act and'.

I have heretofore stated, that I could not approve an Act, which secures to incorporated companies, a right to purchase and hold to an unlimited extent, real estate. The Act which this is intended to amend, does restrict and limit the freehold tenure of the company; the present one, now submitted for my approval, dispenses with this

wholesome provision. It is accordingly returned, that in this particular, it may again be open to the consideration of the Council. JNO. H. EATON.

14th January, 1836.

Also the following:

EXECUTIVE OFFICE,
January 14th, 1836.

To the Legislative Council:

I respectfully suggest to the Legislative Council, the propriety of authorising by law, an increase of the Executive Staff. It has been found necessary to despatch the Adjutant-General to Augusta, to procure Arms. Oa receiving them here, he will need assistants. The Quar ter Master too, will require persons to assist him with his duties. A law giving to the Executive authority to increase and enlarge the Staff appointments as he may conceive to be necessary, may conduce much to the benefit of the service. JNO. H. EATON.
