Of the Legislative Council of the Territory of Florida, at its 15th session, begun and held at the Capitol in the City of Tallahassee, on Monday, the 2d day of January, A. D. 1837.

The following members appeared, were duly qualified by the Honorable THOMAS RANDALL, Judge of the Superior Court for the Middle District of Florida, and took their seats, to wit:

On motion of Mr, Tabor, Mr. Fitzpatrick was called to the Chair, when the House proceeded to the election of its officers by ballot.

Mr. Morton of Escambia county, was declared to be unanimously elected President.

Joseph B. Lancaster was duly elected chief Clerk.

James Wallace was duly elected Sergeant at Arms, and Moses Ellis was elected Door Keeper.

On motion of Mr. Downing, a select committee was appointed to wait on his Excellency the Governor of this Territory, and inform him that this House is now organised and ready to receive communications from him. Messrs. Downing, Fitzpatrick and Macon, were appointed on that committee.

This House then adjourned until to-morrow at 12 o'clock, A. M.

TUESDAY, January 3, 1837. The House met pursuant to adjournment, and a quorum being present, the journal of yesterday's proceedings was read.

Mr. President laid before the Council, a memorial from E. J. Wood, contesting the election of John Carr from Franklin county, together with sundry documents received through the post office, which was read, and on motion of Mr. Fitzpatrick referred to a select Committee. Messrs. Fitzpatrick, Johnston and Macon were appointed on that Committee.

Also the memorial of T. Levingston, which was read, and with the accompanying documents, referred to the same Committee.

Mr. Downing from the select Committee, appointed to wait upon His Excellency the Governor, reported that the duty had been performed, and the Committee were instructed by His Excellency to say that he would be prepared to communicate to this House at 12 o'clock to-day.

Mr. Fitzpatrick gave notice that he will on some future day introduce a bill to incorporate the Florida, Atlantic, and Gulf of Mexico Rail Road and Steam Boat Company. Also a bill to establish one term of the Superior Court in Dade County in the Southern District of Florida. Also a bill to regulate the fees and terms of service of Notaries Public, and Judges of the county Courts. Also a bill to repeal an act relative to the capture of Negroes found in the Seminole Nation.

On motion of Mr. Fitzpatrick, the Chief Clerk, Sergeant at Arms and Door Keeper took their respective oaths of office.

Messrs. John G. Gunn, Robert Copeland, and Neill McPherson were duly elected enrolling and engrossing Clerks.

His Excellency the Governor transmitted to this House the fol lowing message, which was read, and on motion of Mr. Fitzpat rick two thousand copies were ordered to be printed.
