A bill to establish an Academy in the county of Gadsden, and to incorporate the trustees thereof, was read again the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading

to-morrow.

An Act, to amend an Act, concerning Estrays, was taken from the orders of the day and postponed till to-morrow.

A bill to be entitled an Act, to repeal an Act, to provide for appeals and writs of error, in criminal cases, was laid on the table till to-morrow.

A bill to be entitled an Act for the relief of Mary Soland, was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading to-morrow.

On motion of Mr. Levy, the House went into committee of the whole, on a bill to be entitled an Act, to amend, and in addition to an Act, to incorporate the St. Augustine and Picolata Rail-Road Company. After some time spent therein, the Committee rose, and Mr. Johnson, chairman, reported said bill amended, which report was agreed to, and said bill is ordered to be engrossed for a third reading to-morrow.

On motion of Mr. Wood, it is ordered that the committee on printing, be directed to enquire of J. Knowles, if he can do the miscellaneous printing of this house.

The House then adjourned till to-morrow morning, 10 o'clock.

WEDNESDAY, Feb. 1st, 1837. The House met pursuant to adjournment: a quorum being present, the Journal of yesterday's proceedings was read. Mr. Downing gave notice that he will on to-morrow introduce a bill to regulate conveyance of real property, in the Territory by non-residents.

Mr. Kenan gave notice that he will on to-morrow introduce a bill, to be entitled an Act to exempt real estate and produce from auction duty.

Mr. Marvin, from the majority, moved to reconsider the vote taken on a former day on the petition of Benjamin G. Thornton, praying for certain allowances, which motion prevailed, and said petition was referred to the committee on claims.

Mr. Hart gave notice that he will on to-morrow, ask leave to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act, to amend an Act, to incorporate the East Florida Rail-Road Company.

Also, a bill to be entitled an Act to aid and facilitate certain works of Internal Improvement, in the Territory of Florida.

Mr. Campbell offered certain resolutions concerning a mail

route to and from Walton County, which were read and ordered for a second reading to-morrow.

Mr. Fitzpatrick, pursuant to previous notice, asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Franklin Insurance Company; which was read and referred to the committee on Banks.

Mr. Fitzpatrick pursuant to previous notice, asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled an Act for the protection of public works in the Territory and for other purposes; which was read, and ordered for a second reading to

morrow.

The committee on claims, to whom was referred the bill entitled an Act for the relief of the heirs of Joseph Delespine deceased, made the following report, viz:

That they have examined into the particulars of the claims and the proofs that sustain them, and find the same just and proper to be allowed.

They therefore report the bill without amendment. (Signed,) ARTHUR MACON,

And said bill is ordered to be engrossed for a third reading to-morrow.

Mr. McNeill from the select committee to whom had been referred the petition of Hannah Stuart, praying for a divorce, reported a bill, entitled an Act for the relief of Hannah Stuart, which was read and ordered for a second reading to morrow.

Mr. Williams from the select committe to whom was referred the petition of Tillithia Brooks praying to be divorced from her husband John R. Brooks, reported the following bill, viz:

A bill to be entitled an Act, to divorce Tillithia Brooks, from her husband John R. Brooks, which was read and ordered for a second reading to-morrow.

Mr. Hart on a former day offered the following preamble and resolutions:

Whereas the increased and growing situation of Duval County, is such as to entitle it to an additional representative in the Legislative Council,

Therefore be it resolved by the Governor and Legislative Council of the Territory of Florida, that our delegate in Congress be requested to obtain the passage of a law authorizing an additional member to represent the said county in the Legislative Council. Which was read and adopted.

A bill entitled an Act, to incorporate the Southern College

at St. Augustine was read the third time and postponed till

to-morrow.

A bill entitled an Act, for the relief of the Inhabitants of East Florida, was laid on the table till to-morrow.

A bill entitled an Act, to provide for the erection of Tombstones over the "graves of Major Washington and Lieut. Yerger, was laid on the table till to-morrow.

The memorial to Congress on the subject of the School lands, was postponed till to-morrow.

A bill entitled an Act, regulating the fees of Notaries Public of the Territory of Florida, was taken from the orders of the day and referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

A bill entitled an Act, to revive and amend an Act, incorporating the town of Marianna, was read the third time and passed. Ordered that the title be as afore stated.

A preamble and resolutions concerning certain land grants in East Florida, were taken from the orders of the day, and postponed till to-morrow.

The House went into committee of the whole, on a bill entitled an Act, incorporating the Franklin Bank of Florida, after some time spent in committee, Mr. Macon, chairman, reported said bill to the house, amended, which report was concurred in. The yeas and nays being required by Messrs. Tabor and Downing on the question of its final passage, were, Yeas-Mr. President, Messrs. Brown, Bryan, Campbell, Downing, Fernandez, Fitzpatrick, Fontane, Gilliland, Hart, Kenan, Levy, McNeill, Read, Stewart Tabor, Williams, and Wood, 18. Nays, Messrs. Johnson, Long, Macon Marvin, Robinson, and Taylor, 6. So said bill was passed. Ordered that the title be as afore stated.

A bill entitled an Act to establish a ferry across the St. Johns river, at the cow-ford, was read a third time and passed. Ordered that the title be as above set forth.

A bill entitled an Act, to amend an Act, entitled an Act to be called the St. Andrew's and Chipola Canal Company was laid on the table till to-morrow.

A bill entitled an Act, to establish an Academy in the county of Gadsden, to incorporate the trustees thereof, was read a third time and passed. Ordered that the title be as above stated.

A bill entitled an Act, to amend an Act, concerning Estrays, was laid on the table till to-morrow.

A bill entitled an Act, to repeal an Act, to provide for Appeals and writs of error in criminal cases, was read a third time, and the yeas and nays being called for by Mr. Downing

and Mr. President, on its final passage, were, Yeas,Messrs. Brown, Bryan, Campbell, Downing, Fernandez, Fitzpatrick, Hart, Johnson, Kenan, Levy, Long, Marvin, McNeill, Robinson, Stewart, Tabor, Taylor, Williams and Wood, 19. Nays, Mr. President, Messrs. Fontane, Gilliland, Macon and Read, 5. So said bill passed. Ordered that the title be as afore stated.

An engrossed bill, entitled an Act, for the relief of Mary Soland, was on motion of Mr. Hart, taken from the orders of the day, and postponed till the 7th day of February.

Mr. Fitzpatrick offered the following resolutions, (the rule being previously waived) to wit:

Resolved that the Judiciary committee be instructed to enquire the expediency of reporting a bill limiting the the terms of officers and their numbers in the several counties of this Territory, and report to this House by bill or otherwise, which was read, and ordered for a second reading to-morrow.

The House then adjourned until tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock.

THURSDAY, Feb. 2d, 1837,

The House met pursuant to adjournment: a quorum being present, the Journal of yesterday's proceedings was read. Mr. Johnson, moved that the rule of the House be waived, and that he may be permitted to introduce a bill entitled an Act, to incorporate the town of Quincy, which motion prevailed, and said bill was read, and ordered for a second reading to-morrow..

On motion of Mr. Levy it is ordered that an extract from the presentment of the Grand Jury of St. Johns and Musquito counties at the October Term of the Superior Court of said counties, recommending a revision of the laws in relation to the election and appointments of Sheriffs, and that it be made a penal offence for any person to act in that capacity, without his having received his commission, and given bond and sufficient security, be referred to the Judiciary Committee.

Mr. Downing gave notice that he will on to-morrow introduce a bill to repeal an Act, approved 15th February, 1836, amending the act regulating Judicial proceedings.

Mr. Bryan gave notice, that he will on to-morrow, ask leave to introduce a Bill to establish a ferry on the Suwannee river at the upper mineral springs.

Mr. Kenan, pursuant to previous notice, asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled an Act, to exempt

real estate and produce from auction duty, which was read and ordered for a second reading to-morrow.

Mr. Kenan pursant to previous notice, asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled an Act, authorizing the sale of real estate of Raiford Hair, deceased, which was.twice read (the rule being waived) and with the accompanying petition referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Marvin pursuant to previous notice, asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled an Act, concerning Jurors in the Southern district of Florida, which was read and ordered for a second reading to-morrow.

Mr. Gilliland gave notice that he will on to-morrow, introduce a bill to authorize the Governor to borrow thirty thousand dollars on the faith of the Territory, for the defence of the frontier, and to allow the troops engaged in that service twenty-five dollars per month.

Mr. Hart pursuant to previous notice, asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled an Act, to aid and facilitate certain works of Internal Improvement in the Territory of Florida, which was twice read, (the rule being waived) and referred to the committee on Internal Improvement.

Mr. Hart pursuant to previous notice asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled an Act, to incorporate the East Florida Rail-Road company, which was twice read, (the rule being waived) and referred to the committee, on Internal Improvement.

On motion of Mr. Wood, Mr. Hart, was added to the committee on Internal Improvement.

Mr. Read presented the petition of Helen Davidson praying to be permitted to sell the real estate of David Davidson deceased, which was read and referred to a select committee. Messrs Fitzpatrick, Tabor and Brown were appointed on said committee.

Mr. Wright presented the petition of Thomas Eastin praying the allowance of certain claims, which was read and with the accompanying exhibits, referred to the committee on claims.

Mr. Levy, presented a preamble and resolution, which was read and laid on the Table till to-morrow.

Mr. Downing, from the Judiciary committee, reported a bill entitled an Act, to amend the several Acts regulating the county courts of this Territory, which was read and ordered for a second reading to-morrow.

Mr. Fontane, from the committee on enrolments, reported the following Acts, as correctly enrolled to wit:
